I searched up how many hand guns are in Canada.

Stupid is as stupid does. Jamaica introduced a draconian civilian gun ban with special police, special courts and special jails back in the 1990's when its homicide rate hit 25/100,000. The result is a massive increase in homicide and crime as gangs of young thugs took over the streets. Now it up in the 40 to 60/100,000 or more.
That's what happens when government renders the good people, the home owners and businesses weaker in the face of criminals.

Yep, for whatever reason, criminals and crazy people don't ever seem willing to follow the law. I predict this is going to go over very well. That, and with an already globalist Leftist authoritarian government that has demonstrated its intentions very clearly by shutting down bank accounts of truckers and their supporters protesting Covid mandates and warrantless entry into people's homes after being snitched on by the neighbors post WW2 East Germany would be most proud.
