Probably. I've never paid PMI with 85/15/5 or 80/20 loans.

The first step for many on the path to bankruptcy as they start trying to put down on a home they can't afford because the down payment is so low.

It's like people have already forgotten the lessons of the GFC.

He saw a tweet that had the word “BREAKING” in it and just blindly assumed it was a big deal.

Happens all the time around here, honestly.

He posted information about something that passed a few days ago.

Why does that bother you Democrats so much?

Still on the hook for 97% spread out over two mortgages. This does help you avoid PMI though.

Insane regs to build.
More government subsidies creating artificial demand.

I'm sure this will help their housing costs.

Wouldn't that apply to literally every 3.5% FHA loan?

Read the thread title again.

If you don’t think that’s misleading, congrats, you’re easily mislead.

If this isn't new why did California put it on the ballot?

The government gives you a free bottle of vodka like they did with all the other homeless, on the taxpayer's dime of course.

Please point specifically to what is wrong in the OP's post.

They didn't pass a new law?

FHA is designated for first time home buyers, right?

This looks to apply to everyone.

Remember last time they did this. When the housing bubble just absolutely crashed. When these people couldn't make their payments or pay their taxes.

In 5 years they can refinance into 1 loan. They don’t have to pay anything down when they refinance. Their home will be worth more than what they owe, so when they refinance for a new 30 year mortgage it will bring down their monthly payment.

Where I live it cost a lot more to rent a nice home or apartment than a mortgage payment for a starter home. It’s probably the same in California. It seems like a good thing to do for new home owners. Just have to make it the 1st 5 years.

Higher rates of default on loans. More litigation. Societal damage. Lawyer, banks, more lawyers etc. Remember 20 years ago when W tried to stop the high risk FHA home lending/financing? One of the reasons we’re where we are today. One of the few times GWB was right.
