Business Owners: Are you having trouble hiring?

Lots of chatter this morning about the weaker than expected jobs numbers being due to difficulty filling positions. What is your experience on that front? For me, it’s definitely true that it has become extraordinarily difficult to hire anyone with a heart beat these days.

Hell yea.
Heavy equipment dealership in Wisconsin and Michigan.
Finally found enough service techs to cover the bases, but they’re green.
Put up an ad for a new sales rep for the UP. Got one applicant.
My sales reps make more than I do.

I offered a decent, rather green, not Good carpenter 22/hr last week and they'd rather sit at home

I know C Store owners who are having to give insane raises to keep people showing up just to keep their doors open. They have tons of open positions and can’t fill them.

I’m not sure when these ridiculous unemployment benefits are set to end, but does anyone know what $15 x’s 40 equal? That’s right, $600 a week they’re paying everyone to stay home.
The left can’t pass a national $15 minimum wage so they are just going to give everyone $600 to stay home forcing business to pay everyone at least $15 an hour to start working again.

I saw a McDonalds sign yesterday:
“Our shake machine works.
You can too”

I think there's actually some truth to this. Whether or not that's the policy makers' intent, I don't know. But this is effectively what many businesses are having to do.

It’a fricking ridiculous.
If you go on vacation with your family this summer, from gulf shores to destin to myrtle beach, service at restaurants is going to suck. Be prepared.
Our chamber here in gulf scores is doing a “worth the wait” campaign, that most area restaurants will hang on their doors, basically saying “nobody is working. Be patient with the employees that do show up”

Just outside the greater NOLA area. Have a warehouse/shipping entry level job starting at $14/hr with no experience, up to $16/hr with experience. Company has a low deductible insurance policy and the employee only pays $60/month for their coverage. Can't get a bite.

Set up 6 interviews in a day and lucky if 1 shows up.

There was a McDonalds on the east coast that were paying people $50 just to show up for an interview.

In Fort Worth, I see "now hiring" and "help wanted" signs on every other business. Never seen this before.

I've seen people getting nearly $30,000 in unemployment compensation for 2020. Universal basic income is here. We're paying overeducated people to sit around all day thinking of crazy ideas to ruin our country.

My bro in law is 4 short in his 2 crew landscape business.
Friend is out of help in his small engine repair business and is now 3 months backed up.
Laundry owner was working counter by himself yesterday, said he’s out of help and dog cussed Xiden.
Restaurant owners - well that’s apparent to all
It’s obvious they’re trying to tank small businesses

I had a add on the front page of the American Press about a week ago.
$16 unskilled laborers
$24 heavy equipment operators
not a single applicant came in.
Luckily this week I was able to hire a few guys.
I had a new hire laborer quit because is told me why work for 40-50 hrs a week and only clear $100 more than if he was just sitting at home collecting unemployment

If he quit he isn't eligible for unemployment

I lose every one of those cases. They give checks to everyone who applies.

I truly feel like this is where they are heading with all this shite. Make everyone dependent on the gov't or a major corporation (which is controlled by the gov't).
We are fortunate in our store. We've got a great group of motivated people that would rather work than sit at home. Now, they were extremely hard to find and we pay them well.

We've been looking for 3 months now, not one person accepted a 6 figure position in our IT department. Specific skill set is needed, but this has never happened before. I think it has more to do with our company doesn't allow 100% telecommuting.
