@BishopDewar gives an alarming warning about how bad the UK’s dystopian decline has become:
"We're going through what I call 'Texas temperatures' at the moment, because it's like 40 degrees centigrade. That's, you know, 110 plus Fahrenheit. For us in Britain, that's astronomical… Police are turning up and telling people, ‘You either remove your air conditioners, or we'll arrest you.’

Now, there are places in the United Kingdom where you can get arrested for praying silently in your head, if you happen to be in what they call an ‘exclusion zone’ around an abortion clinic. This is what happens when the state thinks it has the right to control every aspect of human life.”

I saw this in the WSJ. They are selling this as a Net Zero policy, but I am skeptical and think they know their power grid can't handle the load if everyone fires-up those inefficient window units.
The harsh reality is that the Brits are closer to the third world than the first. And their French counterparts are not far behind.

I bet part of the reason for this is they're trying to preserve their power grid, which is an issue created by these same government officials. They shunned and even wanted to outlaw oil & gas drilling, making their power grid more reliant on wind and solar.

Official reason: too much CO2, violation of "net zero" rules. Residents of North London and Camden are being ordered to remove everything in favor of fans and open windows, even though only 3% of British households have air conditioning compared to 90% in the United States.
