How would the secret service handle this?

I think they have to go to jail too. At least that’s how it works in the workplace sitcom I’m writing where there is a heated in jail rivalry between Trump’s secret service agents and Hunter Biden’s secret service agents

Who at the SS is going to make that determination?

Maybe, but you're still having a moist fantasy about something that won't happen.

You're delusional. I voted for Trump twice, think every charge against him is political in nature, and seriously disagree with the notion of jailing a former POTUS for political reasons.

The bail requirement seems to be an indication the politics of this case runs all the way through the judge. Seems the judge would have the authority to say no to bail and to booking ... Especially if the arraignment hearing is not until September.

Seems the judge is letting the DA run his courtroom.

Oh, don’t kid yourself.

The local principals in this thing don’t appear to be bright enough, nor ballsy enough to act on this on their own. Every move they make is being dictated to them by DC.

You need to see if Russell Dalrymple over at NBC will greenlight that.

I wonder if in that scenario the secret service would isolate a wing of a jail similar to if a president had to be sent to the hospital for life saving surgery suddenly on a trip or something.

Speculation, but I suspect it would be more efficient to keep that wing in full use and to incarcerate someone like Trump in some sort of temporary facility, like a FEMA trailer type situation.

Secret service has already made it known that a former president will never go into a prison. Whether you like it or not, secret service must protect the former president and they cannot allow him/her to be incarcerated in a prison run by agencies they have no control over.

I've thought about that problem. Trump most certainly could not be placed in general population and he certainly does not deserve to be placed in some sort of solitary. Perhaps in a cottage on a military base where he and the Secret Service guys could be safe and relatively comfortable.

Not posting (remember, that money is in escrow and only kept by the state if the court appearance is not made) bail would be foolish. As law enforcement officers the Secret Service would be obligated to turn him over.

I think it would be cathartic and would wake up significant numbers of window-lickers that know nothing of history (or even yesterday) and currentl think this all just some kind of entertainment.

The far leftist authoritarians could never retreat from such self-exposure.

He shouldn’t even show up to the court…

Yea, a contempt charge would really help out his legal and political situation.

Which means the Secret Service will be with Trump no matter if he is at home, in jail, under the jail, or rent free in your head.

Bail/bond? Yes. But this wouldn't be an unreasonable bond amount for these charges in most jurisdictions.

Booking? No Trump has to book/process.

That's how long it takes here (sometimes longer, typically 60-90 days out) and bonds/processing are still required.

Unless the statute is amended, yes, that seems likely.

Has anyone here said differently? I've not seen it, if so.

I love DB but no way should Trump spend one second in jail.
