re: Silver & Gold have been skyrocketing lately

I recall the Hunt brothers silver bubble of February 1980 when Ag got up into the 50's. Thought that was insane. Now over $70. Amazing.

It's not Vance, it's Peter Thiel, his master.

More importantly, even if Trump had committed the acts people have imagined him committing, would it shake the base of his support? He could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue, NYC at noon and he still would not lose his base. The whole Epstein thing is, at base, a non-issue.

Dear Donald,
Please don't.
These things almost never work out.

As a general rule, USA induced regime changes do not turn out well.
re: Kamala latest claim: “I was the most qualified candidate ever to run for president.”
Posted by MilwaukeeKosherDills on 10/15/25 at 5:55 pm to SPEEDY
No she was not.
In recent years George H.W. Bush was easily the most qualified.
A stint in Congress.
Head of the CIA.
US ambassador to the UN
Vice president for eight years.
That's a heck of a resume.
Dwight Eisenhower, even though he never held a political office before the presidency, was Supremely qualified.
Other presidents and presidential candidates have been governors and/or held leadership positions in Congress. I'd put them ahead of Harris as well.

Does his face look thinner? It does to me which might mean he's intentionally losing weight to preserve his health.

Assuming he actually was the killer, he must never again breath free air.
I don't really care if he's executed or in prison for life.
Just 22 years old. What a waste.

People with large public profiles not just politicians, but writers, artists and musicians are too often easy targets.
It would be nice if people were horrified at the prospect of frequent public killings and backed off from the violence and violent rhetoric, but I fear we humans aren't rational enough to do that.
re: Trump advisors explore options if SC upholds lower courts ruling on tariffs
Posted by MilwaukeeKosherDills on 9/7/25 at 6:30 pm to bigjoe1
Option 1: Go to Congress and get a tariff law passed. We're not in bad shape and there is no emergency. With majorities in both Houses, Trump can push forward a big beautiful tariff law. It would get done late this year or early next.
Passing it in Congress lets everyone involved in the export/import business know exactly where they stand. Much better for commerce.

Corporate farming entities will pick up the land on the cheap and bump up the price of whatever they produce. It's the American way.

When looking at crime numbers I tend to focus on murders rather than assaults and property crimes for the simple reason that a corpse is going to be tallied more reliably that a missing item or a report of an armed robbery.
re: Trump has fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics

Killing the messenger.
Firing thousands of government workers was bound to show up in the employment numbers.
And a gain of 73K for July is still a gain in jobs, not a loss. Not a big deal.

He won't get out. If it looks like he might raise the money they'll hold another hearing and either hold without bond or jack the bond up.

Russia does not have the ability to do so.
Every investment Putin thought he made in his military was mostly stolen by Oligarchs. Russia's military looks good on paper but that is it. Modern weapon systems have devastated Putin's military.
More slowly, but much like 1941 and 1942, Russia (FKA USSR) is getting their stuff together. They're firing corrupt and incompetent military leaders and gearing up their industries. Think thousands of tanks in '42 and thousands of drones in 2025. Had Putin's military been as efficient in 2022 as they are now, they might have won before the end of '22.
They still have many problems to overcome such as the serious hits to their economy caused by Western sanctions, but the big Russian bear is slowly waking up.

re: Why is Israel outing us for involvement in the attacks?
Posted by MilwaukeeKosherDills on 6/13/25 at 6:51 am to Powerman
The US was busy evacuating our embassy in Iran three or four days ago. That made it obvious we knew what was coming. Rubio and Trump will have a very difficult time denying involvement.
Netanyahu wants the US to be directly fighting Iran to take pressure off Israel.

It's the new version of pork barrel.
Every Senator wants military expenditures in their state and every CongressCritter in their district.
I'll vote for yours if you'll vote for mine.

I found the opposite. Grift calls to me at least tripled once I put my number on that list. Honest telemarketers will stay away but when the crooks get the list they now have a whole lot of what they know to be valid phone numbers.
There are a number of YouTube videos of scam operations in India getting busted, but it's like whack-a-mole. The business is so profitable they just keep cropping up.
Not all the scammers are calling from India. Some originate in Nigeria and a couple of months two ago I had one that originated, IIRC, from Jamaica.
I've never had the one where a supposed relative of mine is in legal trouble and can only be bailed out with gift cards.
Years ago I read the FCC was going to put a stop to the calling schemes, but that never happened.
