I am sure 200 billion will do wonders for them, it will all be managed wisely and not completely pocketed by warlords and turn already worthless currency into toilet paper

There is no guilt. He is spending it all before he dies, he wants to be treated like a liberal icon instead of a known Epstein guest in his remaining days

I don’t blame him. This is as good as it gets for him, it’s going to be quite toasty in his next destination

200 billion thrown at a problem in the most corrupt continent that ever existed, war lords and criminals are dancing in the street. Not a dime will be spent on anything that may improve the country. And lets say it did, 200 billion wouldnt scratch the surface. It wont move the needle in any significant way regarding quality of life in that third world mess.

Speaking of free money, does anyone remember that $100 million raised by JJ Watt after hurricane Harvey? I have lived in Houston for a long time, and I do not know anyone who received that money or help from it. I wonder what happened to it.

A chicken in every pot and a gold necklace around every neck. Seriously, I hope somebody honest manages this money to build decent infrastructure for the good poor folk there instead of political grift. But we know that we cannot legislate morality and higher vision or buy it. Check out the results of Johnson’s “Great Society “ gambit. An idle mind is the devil’s work shop.

I'll add my non-tinfoilhat explanation. People, as they get older and realize that they are mortal, start to focus on legacy. Sure, he's the Microsoft guy.

But if by some chance, his $200 billion makes a huge difference in Africa, he'll be immortalized there in the history books for ages.

My question is, why Africa? Can someone explain this to me?

More blacks, less whites.

More blacks is really all you get when you give 'aid' to Africa. Not better, not worse, just more.

And African warlords aren't gonna touch a dime of Bill's Billion$?

If Gates wants to leave his money in the hopes of a utopian “Wakanda” emerging on the African continent someday then that’s up to him.

I think all that money will eventually find its way into the hands of a corrupt few and most regular African people will be left the same as they’ve been the entirety of my life.

But if it makes Bill feel good about himself before checking out of planet Earth, then that’s his call.

I thought it was more, but you are correct. Still the largest crowd sourced fundraiser in history.

Yes. I have heard that as well. I am saying that I don’t know a single person who was helped by this effort.

There you go. He knows where this money is going to actually go. This is probably just the new slush fund now that stashing it in Ukraine or China is a no go now.

10 years after Gates is dead, Africa will have the same problems, but the warlords will be much much wealther.
