So not linking any social media flipping out posts but seems the liberals on social media are flipping out over a wall going up inside the park. This left wing nut I work with is losing her shite about it. Screaming the bulldozers are already there clearing the land endangering the local wildlife. Haha
Can you baws let me know what’s really going on at Big Bend?? Thanks

There were a few “moderates” here who started threads on this a while back before the Fifth Circuit issued its opinion. We need a strong physical barrier or else dems will do exactly what Biden did if they ever win back the White House.

Well, anywhere there is no natural wall such as a canyon or a steep cliff with motion detectors, etc., there should be a wall.
The animals will survive as they do around the world with other countries and border walls.
Pretty simple. Lefty melting is no surprise as they are ruled by emotions and not logic and reason.

it’s all a bunch of commie tree huggers making fake news up. it’s all so dumb, there aren’t even trees out there. it a desert wasteland. heck, the wall is probably bringing golden jobs to that godforskaken blight land. why should we care about moving some sand around when illegals are
invading us

Great news I will be hiking there this winter and don’t want to be killed by drug smugglers

Unfortunately, this will not change anything. They will open up the gates. Walls do not stop flights coming in that were paid for by ngo entities. They can bring them in exponentially faster and cheaper than we can remove them. This country is at a point that another democrat controlled White House means the end of the republic, period.

I know a guy who works for a contractor who was just told he was being transferred to West Texas to work on said wall.
As a lover of Big Bend, I am very sad that this is happening.

Border wall thru big bend is trashy as frick.

As I understand it, the wall will be well inside of our border and in an area that doesn't have migration problems due to the terrain and inhospitable climate.

Did we fence the rest of the border yet? If there is anywhere in the country that doesn't need it, it's here. There's hardly anywhere to cross as it is, unless you want to ride a donkey into Boquillas like Robert Earl Keen. The entire area is just hundreds and hundreds of square miles of nothing but inhospitable terrain and animals that can kill you. What are they going to do, run a wall through the middle of Santa Elena Canyon? It's so unnecessary.
I'm all for border walls where they make sense, but ruining this beautiful, unique natural landscape is a shame and resources are better spent elsewhere imo.

The canyon doesn’t even cover half the park. Most of it is desert with the Rio Grande wandering through.
Most of the Rio Grande flattens out in the park and it’s about a foot deep and 20 yards across. You can walk back and forth across it and not even get your shorts wet.
People act like the terrain is too hostile to cross illegally. The reality is that no one is walking from Mexico to Kansas. They get dropped off in trucks by coyotes and picked up by trucks. The remote nature of the area is their cover. They say only 2% of illegals come through there - reality is they have no idea.
There are tons of trails through the park. You can google Black Gap - it’s a well-known Jeep trail. It takes about 4-6 hours and you’d be lucky to see another car during the whole thing. It’s also one of the least visited National Parks. They could have built the wall already and no one would have noticed.

The border there is cover by massive plateaus, the main access point through the river, just station 3 guards there. It’s insane to put a border wall on that park. Truly sad. Even more sad conservatives (which you are not) would support this.
