re: Big Bend National Park Border Wall

Nobody is coming in at Big Bend. The most likely entry is at Boquillas, and that gives you a 90 mile walk in tough terrain. They could handle that part of the border without a wall. There should be a wall from Starbase to Del Rio.

A whole lot of nothing, that's what's going on over there. Just nature doing nature because most humans won't survive out there without a lot of supplies. I've driven all over the US and the BBNP is just BIG. I mean really BIG. You can see for fricking ever out there.

Wife and I went there in January about 10 years ago on a lark. Drove inside for about an hour before seeing another vehicle. Had some canyons that looked cool to go into and sit around the truck drinking and fire making. However, the rocks were so rough looking I didn't trust a brand new set of Michelin truck tires would survive.

Let them build a wall, it'll probably look brand new 100 years from now.

BTW it was in the 90s degrees F in early January.

A wall through Big Bend should only be built once the rest of the wall is completed.
From my understanding, the area is isolated with rough terrain and unbearably hot weather that very few border crossings actually happen there.

I’m very pro wall but I think the walk through big bend should be a last resort.

I’m sure I’ll be downvoted to oblivion but I like keeping a few areas in this country completely natural.

Having been there, ain't noboby trying to go through that. It's an extreme wilderness of almost a million acres , no water sources once you get past the 128 miles of river running through canyons, and past that is more desert and nothing else but rattlesnakes and scorpions. I can't imagine trying to come across and walk to a town without dying from exposure.

Na dude, conservative as it comes here and i don’t agree with a wall going up there. It’s destroying natural beauty for 1 and secondly if an illegal could make it across that terrain and into here then they deserve to be here. Thats not an area where anyone crosses, period.

Yeah they are literally losing their shite over clearing a few yards of invasive species brush to make room for the wall.

The border part of that park is one of the biggest conduits for drug and human smuggling.

Another noteworthy update is that where it once said “Detection Technology,” it now says “Technology & Patrol Road.” CBP has still not specified what that technology would include. Watchtowers? Stadium lighting? Cameras? Other kinds of surveillance? None of that has been explained, specified, or excluded by the Trump administration.

While no one knows if they’re planning on constructing any new patrol roads, it’s beyond obvious that they will, in fact, need roads, materials, and heavy equipment to actually build those sections of border barrier in the national park.

Additionally, the updated map now also shows physical vehicle barriers along all of the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River and through Amistad National Recreation Area. The adjacent Big Bend Ranch State Park continues to be threatened as well.
