What if this was a closely contested primary and the winner wasn't apparent by that date?
It would be on the party to have their convention by then and pick the candidate.
The party not reading or caring about the fine print doesn’t change the fine print.

A good spot for "no standing" rulings.

This is all fine and good. But we all know that on election the Democrat party’s elitist-chosen candidate WILL BE on the ballot in all 50 states.

Who wants to bet Democrats get whoever they want on that ballot? I believe Republicans will help them do it.

Saw this a few weeks ago but it isn't accurate.
Nevada: Each major political party must provide the names of their candidates for president and vice president to the secretary of state by 5 p.m. on the first business day of September of the year of a presidential election. That’s Tuesday, Sept. 3 this year because Sept. 2 is Labor Day.
That is about two-and-a-half weeks before the state’s deadline of Sept. 21 for distributing ballots to military and overseas voters. Nevada’s deadline is set in regulation.

Question: since Biden is not the official nominee until nominated at the convention, does that change this?
Posted on 7/21/24 at 3:43 pm to hawgfaninc
Why is biden on the ballot to begin with? He wasn’t officially the nominee yet?
Posted on 7/21/24 at 3:44 pm to hawgfaninc
How does that work when the party hasn’t had their convention and officially nominated their candidate?
Obviously not the case this time, but how would you have a party’s candidate on the ballot this early if it were a closely contested primary that results in a brokered convention?

Yes, but would a vote for Biden be added to a vote for Harris?
Who wins the state if Trump beats both individually?
Your question doesn't make sense. You are thinking too hard about this this, or typing faster than your brain works.
The name printed on the ballot could be Mickey Mouse Mohammed Al Jazeera MacGillicutty Jr.. The electoral college delegates, if MMMAJM Jr wins the vote in that state, can vote in the electoral college for whoever the "real" Dem candidate is. The actual name on the printed ballot is irrelevant, other than the fact it could confuse voters. But in this case, there would be massive campaigns in those states to educate voters that a vote for Biden is a vote for [insert whoever the real Dem nominee is]. I can't explain it better than that. If you still don't understand, politics probably isn't for you.

So if libs were not going full lawfare these days I would actually feel bad about this. I like winning but not via shenanigans

It’s so cute how people think little things like the law matters for elections.
If laws mattered, Biden would never have been able to steal the last election.

Is it a winner takes all or proportional?
If Biden and Harris are both on the ticket as nominees and Trump beats both of them, the situation hurts the Democrats.
That is my point.
Will it be Biden/Harris on the ticket or will it be Biden/Harris and Harris/*******?
What if it is Biden/Harris, but Harris isn’t chosen as the nominee? How will that work?
Do they just not put the actual nominee on the ticket?

How can anyone other than Democrats who received votes in that states primaries be in the official ballot for that state?

They're going to 25th him aren't they?

Brain droppings…
Biden is still President, so I wonder if he can be removed under the 25th at a later date, thus allowing a new candidate to be placed on the ballot.
In his letter he stated he will hold a press conference to provide more “details” as to why he’s stepping out. If he cites health reasons maybe that gives the Dems the opportunity to see which way the wind is blowing on the ballot issue and then later pull the 25th card if necessary, claiming the health issue supports his removal as his condition has declined even more since his withdrawal.
I would imagine the Bidens are pushing back on them going the 25th route, so there are “assurances” to them they won’t. Again I’m speculating, but maybe that’s why he’s agreed to step back - let me finish my term gracefully, don’t 25 me, and I’ll step out. But the party will break that deal if they need to.
What would be really awesome is if at his press conference he either purposely spills the beans that he’s being forced out for political reasons or admits as much inadvertently due to his cognitive state.
Another thing I see in play is that Biden wants to stay in office until the election is over in order to pardon Hunter, Jim, himself, etc. - doing so before the election would surely look bad and give the Republicans a big time talking point leading up to the election. Of course again, the Dems will pull that rug out from them if needed without second thought.
Crazy times we’re living in. The next 3+ months are going to be insane. There’s no telling the surprises ahead. Fasten your seatbelts and don’t assume Trump is a shoe in. There’s a plan in play, and it’s going to be a dirty fight.
