I think this has run its course. I think I've answered these questions throughout this thread, so I'll leave it at that.

But you can also pray, take an action and trust that God lead you in the right direction.

It's a bit circular to your point, but in the face of a much clearer form of evil, maybe praying and voting, and continuing to pray for Trump and all of leaders is the better action, rather than sitting it out.

See the use of the Drowning Man above, that's a spot on parable for this kind of decision.

This rings hollow for me. I come from a huge family of Southern Baptists spread across Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, NC and Georgia.

Ministers, deacons, Sunday school teachers, etc.

All voting for Trump.

Maybe this is talking about catholics?

Yet the Bible doesn't say it's 6000 years old. The Bible says humans have been here 6000 years.

So all us Christians who are voting for Trump are not following God’s Word? I know you didn’t say this but I’m trying to understand. If this is the case then why are you hoping that he wins?

I really don’t understand your logic. You’ve stated in so many words that you want all people to be saved (me too). Does that mean that by voting for Trump we are not saved. You’re logic just doesn’t make any sense

Nope.

The Roman Catholic Catechism requires every practicing Catholic to vote in these elections. The Pope has already instructed Catholics to vote in this election for the "lesser of two evils" which is obviously Trump, since Harris is Pro Abortion.

Fool Man Choo is Protestant and he is not voting in this election due to spiritual reasons.

It's not Catholics who will sit this one out - it's Protestants.

Plenty of Catholics don't listen to the pope or the Bible, just look at the ones in D.C.

Probably is a high number. Quite a few Christians are absolutists when it comes to abortions. Some are pretty dumb and don't think ahead. Kamala and walz have already claimed they want another roe v wade activated at the federal level. While trump has stated many times he wants it to be a state decision.

My point is that Catholics have been instructed that it will be a Sin on their Soul if they do not vote in elections. Being a good citizen who regularly votes is a requirement to be a good Catholic. It says so in our Catechism.

So, for people to assume that the non voting Christians are Catholics are just showing their bias against Catholics.

Sure.

Only an internet troll would think you foolish for believing that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

Sumerian cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs are almost that old. You really think humans invented multiple written languages within a couple of hundred years of appearing on the scene?

They do this every election they plan on cheating in. They put out the narrative that normal people are going to sit out the election for whatever reason and people blame that shite for the loss. They are just trying to make their fraud less shocking to the public. And it has worked every single time so far.

I believe that the Scriptures tell us that we are to honor and obey God rather than men, and that we should seek first Christ's kingdom.

The arguments being presented so far primarily revolve around pragmatism rather than seeking to honor Christ. The concern is for people in this country being subjected to leftist, anti-God ideology rather than whether or not the GOP is providing a pro-Christ ideology.

I'm saying that there's a reason that the first commandments speak to our relationship with God; that is our first priority.

quote:

If this is the case then why are you hoping that he wins?
I recognize that, realistically, it's either him or Harris who will eventually win. Between the two, I realize that the level of promotion of open sin and antagonism against Christians will be less under a Trump administration, so there are practical benefits for Trump winning. My reason for voting or not voting is not based on pragmatism, though.

No. I believe that people are saved by trusting in Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sin. It's Jesus who saves people; we do not save ourselves. Voting or not voting is not a salvation issue.

As much as you like to make everything about Catholics vs. Protestants, my view on this issue is in the minority of Protestant Christians. I'm not sitting out because I'm "Protestant"--I have been a Protestant all my life and only recently have I changed my position on this issue.

It's amazing to me how someone can think that a refusal to violate one's conscience by voting for a candidate is the same thing as voting specifically for evil policies of the other candidate and equally worthy of evil repercussions. You can disagree with me all you want but this is an absolutely irrational take.
