I don't see why women soldiers can't have lower standards for military service. All you have to do is fit them to the proper jobs:
Cooks
Secretaries
Laundry and general cleaning

But, but I've seen many movies and TV shows where a 110 pound pretty girl can kick the arse of a 200 pound thug!

Korea had a show where pretty young singers and actresses would attempt to do the obstacle course required of all males entering the Korean Army for their mandatory 18 month stent. Lol.

One of the most iconic TV commercials I remember seeing as a kid was that one in which the blonde lady sings about how she can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, ever, ever let you forget you’re a man. Seriously. Those are the actual lyrics. The year was 1980.

None of which are combat related.

They can make fine pilots, assuming they can handle the g-forces, and plenty of airframes aren't that demanding from a physical standpoint. But outside of that I'm having a hard time coming up with combat jobs where physicality doesn't play a major role.

That’s photos is Marines unless the army has Lance Corporals.

Which is a little more disturbing

Edit: I see I’m not the only one that noticed that.

That's the problem....they DID lower the standards for everyone and we still have "problems!"

That's why allowing gays was a bad idea; not because they can't do the job, but because it introduces an aspect that never enhances combat effectiveness and can only damage it.

Yeah this has nothing to do with combat effectiveness. I'm in an infantry unit now, and while we don't have anyone openly gay with us, I have worked along side openly gay soldiers and it never once effected the mission.

Plenty of spots available in the cockpits of tankers, cargo planes, etc.

My son can tell blindfolded when a woman is flying a Blackhawk he is in. He is in a unit with supposedly the finest pilots in the army and the women are not as good as the men. There are some poor male pilots he can tell when they are flying as well, but pretty much every female pilot is jerky in their flight.

It’s almost as if they concluded there are (gasp!)......fundamental biological differences between men and women!

99.5% of the people constantly tearing down today's military on this site have never set foot in a combat arms unit. They listen to what their neighbor who got discharged in BCT says as though that's gospel, or read stories like this one and equate that to the military being soft.

As of early June, less than half of the AD Army had taken a diagnostic ACFT, and that number drops to less than 20% for the RC. The Army is amassing these numbers to try and decide what to do with it, and what changes to make, when it goes live next spring. Still a long way to go, and a lot of data to be gathered before this can be considered a failure. I will say, if you can score a 580+ on this, you are serious about your fitness. I'm sure there are some of those cross-fit type females who can do that, but they are few and far between.

I know they changed the Hand-Release pushup standard from 1 minute to 2 minutes, but last year when it was one minute, an individual who normally scores in the 400s on the APFT missed maxing the ACFT by 4 pushups.

In her case, she wouldn't be a LANCE Corporal she would be a CABER Corporal.

So, males are physically stronger and more athletic than females?

It's breaking news, alright.

Actually, the science has been there for this for decades. Not that anyone needs science to figure this out, but we've had the actual hard numbers, meaning that we know just how much stronger and more athletic men are than women.

Women can get close to men in some metrics, but there are two metrics in particular that you have to be talking about the very weakest men compared to the very strongest women to see any overlap whatsoever, and that's in general upper body strength and grip strength.

Good thing neither of those metrics is important in combat.

Prior infantry here as well. If it’s not a factor, why do rules exist that keep the sexes separate? When you go down range there are separate male and female quarters as well as rules about who can be in those quarters and when. A male and female can’t be roommates but two gay men can.

The military claims it’s not an issue but their own rules say differently.

Happen to know some marines who had to split the sexes because they kept getting caught standing nighttime guard duty in an irregular fashion.

It's not anything crazy. The Sprint Drag Carry was the hardest event. Running 2 miles after is hard but the time allowed is more than enough. Honestly I work woth a fat body who hasn't passed at PT test in years and he passed every event except the leg tuck. Which they added a 2 minute plank as an alternative event. It literally can not get any easier than what it is right now.

At this point if you can't pass, you don't deserve to be in the military.
