Did the other side surrender?
If there is debate over whether or not you won a war...you didn't.

If you want this to end with American troops holding a parade in Tehran and American companies rebuilding the bridges, then I think you want to achieve something that would be not only extremely difficult and costly, but also beyond what even our own government hopes to achieve.

Some people are so stupid! It's really about what didn't happen. I guarantee Iran was up to no good and if we continued to ignore it, it would be way worse than anything you're going through now!

1. I heard this exact same rhetoric about Iraq in 2003, back when I was naive enough to believe it. I learned my lesson about taking "We have to act now to stop their nefarious plots!" propaganda at face value, but I suppose not everyone did.
2. Iran was absolutely a threat... to Israel. This war is about the security of Israel, not the United States. Of course the Israelis want the Iranian government neutralized or overthrown because Iran is the main supporter of Hezbollah.
Vance, Caine, and Ratcliffe all realized that this conflict was a bad idea to begin with, but Trump bought Netanyahu’s sales pitch of a quick, easy, dominant victory for some reason.

The accounts are in line with what we know about the views of the people mentioned, particularly J.D. Vance pushing back against a war in the Middle East without clear objectives.
It's worth noting that the administration is on a warpath this morning trying to find the people who leaked these supposedly fictional conversations.
Genuine question: Has the White House directly stated "None of those conversations ever happened" or not?
