I read this in article by Kenneth J. Saltman, “The Austerity School,” and the claims track. Is this a failure or feature of capitalism?

It's a feature of the limits of capitalism.

It is a failure of not having capitalism. There is too much central planning of the economy here in tUSA to truly be capitalistic. Central planning...that tried and true failure mechanism of Marxism.

Capitalism has single-handedly pulled more people out of poverty than any other economic system. It has made the poor of today live like the kings of yesteryear.

So millions are trying to get into communist countries and millions are leaving capitalist countries, right?

Now imagine if we had true capitalism in America, and also the boomers didn't sell out our country for globalization and cheaper trinkets

Shocking that you don't understand the basic economic principles that you are reading.

How is coming off the gold standard, government overprinting currency, and government subsidization of certain markets a "feature of capitalism"?

People buying shite they don't need, and having the ability to go into debt to do so, is just a symptom of freedom.

It’s always fun pointing out to liberals how every single country on earth has more of its citizens moving to the USA than US citizens moving to that country.

But America baddddddff

Proceeds to share article instead of anything by Marx ...

OP continues to be the poster child for straw man arguments and dishonest thread starts to promote her "intellectual" self ...

Spend more time with the Häagen-Dazs and less time on this forum.

Did the central planning align with the decline of real wages and de industrialization though? That started in the 50s or 60s.

Disposable income of your average US citizen is at an all time high, and still the world leader.

Don’t worry, I know you won’t admit you were wrong, just like you won’t tell the class how you have adopted Victorian age male sexist beliefs towards women in regards to their inability to control their emotions and hormones

If I knew of any better system than capitalism… I would willingly try it.

Socialism isn’t it … as history has proven.

If anything, I would advocate for real capitalism instead of the crony-capitalism version we currently employ …. too many parasites, including the socialists.
