Don't think he said he was trying to get convicted. Just subordinating his legal goals to his political goals at times.

This is assuming the jury is even going to understand the legal requirements of the FECA claim, or how they can be rolled up into a felony with misdemeanor business records crimes in this convoluted case. To me McCarthy is writing like this is a bench trial and he is predicting what a judge would do with this, but it's a jury trial.
The charges/instructions to the jury by Merchan means they do not have to understand it to a soon shite (assume shite) that he violated.

In fact- they don't even have to consider WHEN he violated it... in 2011 (5 years before the election) when the Stormy story leaked because it was being shopped around? or was it in 2017 (after the election) when these payments/ledger entries to Cohen were actually made?

And you are the one who voted for a guy who literally finger fricked his own 12 year old daughter.

By lying about the reimbursement of Cohen

Trump didn't lie about the reimbursement. To believe the prosecution on this matter one would have to believe Cohen was working for free after the election. That is probably the most absurd thing about this whole trial. That grifter Michael Cohen had suddenly decided to perform legal charity for a billionair. This shyt show circus of a trial has got to be the.most embarrassing event in our countries modern history.

How can the Trump defense be to blame when the prosecution and the judge collaborated to frick then so badly?

Because instead of admitting to the NDA and hush money (which is legal) and saying everything they did was legal and forcing the prosecution to prove he was breaking the law, he is lying by trying to act like none of it happened because it’s unethical but not illegal behavior. Trump thinks it will hurt his election chances if he admits to it.

Trump took the bait hook line and sinker and is now backed into a corner. He is likely done because he fell for the trap even though he did nothing illegal. Now he not only will lose the election or even be ineligible to run, he likely serves jail time too.

You just don't like it when someone is telling you what it's that you are actually looking at. It's absolutely a railroad job and McCarthy is telling you how they are playing the game and the strategy being used. He's saying that Trump and his team are taking a page out of the Les Miles Jan.2012 strategy for facing Alabama.

You can vote down and say the fix was in, but McCarthy is maintaining that Trump's lawyers and even Trump helped them along.

Every lawyer is crap when the judge won't allow you to cross examine, present evidence, and/or clears the courtroom when somebody raises their eyebrows at them

Good luck with that bullshite

Lol. Judge and prosecutor are singing the same tune... and that dude is bitching about trump's team not doing this or that. For frick's sake, one of trump's key experts was close to having his testimony removed just because the judge was pissed off about an eye roll.

I see his point.

The whole trial is a giant jedi mind trick that counts on every juror being week minded.

Will never happen. I'm not even sure I want to be in this country if they sent Trump to jail. The tensions are so high right now.

Still, strategically speaking, Team Trump has presented one of the most ill-conceived, self-destructive defenses I have ever seen in decades of trying and analyzing criminal cases. The reason for this is clear: Trump insisted that his lawyers subordinate his defense at trial to the political narrative he wants to spin in the 2024 campaign....

This is just dumb. Trump's lawyers were prevented from giving a full defense by the judge.

Stormy is on record multiple times denying the affair. If Trump were to admit it for judicial expediency, he would be a pussy. Real men don't admit wrongdoing when they did nothing wrong.

It's no surprise that the only people buying this article are the TDS losers.
