An unbiased opinion on what's wrong with the Left

The left currently are at a crossroads where they have to decide whether or not they are going to continue following establishment candidates or try more Progressive politicians to push their legislation.
What has brought them to this is refusal to reflect on 2016. Notably, it is confusion regarding the importance of racial, sexual, and gender dynamics amoungst Americans. Americans want equality of opportunity as well, not equality of outcomes.
The American people believe in a general form of equality under the law. The issue is that the Left actively promotes groups over others. It denies problems faced by the majority in lieu of satisfying a small niche group regarding gender identity.
They are obligated to speak ill of their conservative counterparts without self-reflection on why many people feel "left behind" by their politics. Even with the division in the Democratic Party, nobody wants to acknowledge that it exists or that indicates an ideological disconnect with their supporters.
That's all I have for right now.

Add in the fact that the MSM has squandered the last shreds of the trust they once held.

They're incapable of independent thought and logical reasoning.

You think progressives care about anything other than outcomes?

The media has become just as destructive as the left.
I’m talking nbc, cbs, cnn, Fox, wsj, ny times, wa post. I mean the set agendas they already have is disgusting. If you aren’t part of the dc beltway country club they will pounce on you.

Marxism is a failed economic and social system that ultimately relies on repression and mass murder to keep control.

Obama played to identity politics and won handily.

We there is the constitution, and Trump will have completely re-vamped the judiciary by the time he leaves office in 5 years, so there's that.

The Democraps had all the momentum when Obama got elected, all they had to do was follow him with a moderate Democrap and they would be running this country now. They are so out of touch with Americans that they went further and further left to the point there is no return.
Liberals have they are the smartest person in the room mentality, this has burned their arse with the average American voter.
Unless they do a major overhaul of the party they are in for a long ride on the Trump train. I hope the stupid arse Republicans don't frick this up.

This. They think they can win a majority by zeroing in on single, hot button issues within each minority voter subclass, then try to tether these subclasses all together with victimhood at the hands of the plurality.
They really don’t pretend to care anymore about the broader collection of “American” ideals and attitudes. Everything is driven by demographics.

The Left has to decide whether they will get help for their mental illness or not.

There are two main schools of thought left in the democratic party.
Imagine the U.S. as a pot of water on the stove and the American people are frogs in the pot. The democrats are torn between the establishment which wants to continue to slowly heat the pot incrementally towards authoritarian socialism believing the frogs will adjust to the heat and be cooked slowly over time; and the progressives who are tired of waiting for the slow cook and believe the frog has been cooked enough already to crank the heat up to full blast.
Both are pushing for the same direction, just at different speeds. Trump was elected because frogs are already jumping out of the pot.

Not as much a crossroad as much as lost along the trail. The Obama presidency gave progressives, across the spectrum, a sense of invincibility. They had thought they'd found an algorithm that would ensure they would keep the White House and at least one half of Congress for nearly a generation (two terms each for Obama, HRC, then whoever). They belived they had an unbeatable advantage in a messaging platform (gleefully supported by the MSM) that could paint any Republican candidate as a racist and lend credibility in continued use of victimhood mentality as political currency. The 2016 Election was supposed to be an election in name only, the Left treated it as a formality and HRC was to be annointed with the full blessing of Hollywood and the media. DJT upended their whole fricking party on 11/8/16, the vitriol is much easier to understand when you look at in terms of Democrats realizing they believed they had a system that could provide a moderate enough candidate to convince Independents and still toss out enough bread crumbs to keep their LWNJ fringe in control and voting the right way. Now they are flinging handfuls of shite at the wall and hoping for something to stick.

As much as I hate admitting it, we were once wrong. We believed a cuck like mittens would be a great president.

So why do so many "laws" pertaining to employment (affirmative action) and such, favor minorities over whites?
In the end, we are the sum total of the decisions we make. America should be a country where its citizens are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the quality of their character and by their work ethic and contribution to society as a whole.
Sadly we can never get there so long as ridiculous laws and policies favor a particular race, sex or religion above others.

“The Left” encompasses a bunch of different smaller groups of people, you’re painting with way too broad a brush. However, it is true that:
#1 Purity tests on the hard left are out of control, see the reaction of some when Joe Rogan endorsed Bernie. Some of that was created by his primary rivals but not all of it. Ridiculous.
#2 The niche groups as you call them tend to worry about their pet issues and not anyone else’s. Bernie does the best job of cutting through this, which is the main reason why he’s leading.
#3 Ignoring small business in the fight against corporatism contributes to misunderstandings of liberal politics. Establishment is in the tank for corporatism, while the insurgents are again too worried about their niche issues. Corporatism kills competition which hurts workers, consumers, and potential employers. That’s a hell of a wide swath of the country, yet left candidates tend to only focus on the first of those 3 groups.
