Haven't you heard about a little company called Ford and what they are about to do to their vehicles?

My employer is saying they are going to put those in our work trucks. If they do I'll be moving on, that's a bridge too far for me. I'll just retire before I put up with that bullshite

People act like this is some huge invasion of privacy when we currently welcome having cameras and microphones in our phones, TVs, laptops, iPads, and every other digital device we own. Do your kids have video game consoles with cameras? That shite is always watching. This sounds invasive, and it is, but we already have these tracking devices around us at all times.
I don’t have to own any of those things to drive myself to the hospital, grocery store, or anywhere.

quote:My nephew works for a landscape design company out of Mobile. He has access to a company truck (very nice, top of the line pickup) and it has this mandatory technology that film his every move. Apparently, he had a bad habit of biting his fingernails, that device picks up his movements as if he's eating while driving.

If I have a cart hat drives for me why do I have to pay attention.

A government who lets criminals run wild is doing this. This is so much more sinister than people realize.

Congress mandated kill switches on our manufacturers.
A kill-switch disables an engine from running, you're referring to Auto Start-Stop. The governmentnever mandated this feature for passenger vehicles. Auto makers voluntarily added this feature to meet emission standards.
Auto Start-Stop is in no way the same as the EU government spying on you in your vehicle.

Trump signed off on it here in the US. Prices on used cars made before 2025/26 are going to go through the roof.
In the United States, there is no equivalent federal requirement that all new cars have driver-facing cameras for distraction monitoring. Some vehicles already have them voluntarily—for example, certain models with advanced driver assistance systems—but there is no nationwide mandate comparable to the EU's ADDW requirement.
Good lord, you people need to do some research before posting this crap.

They'll outlaw that next, or force manufacturers to make it clear.

SignalTrace - can collect electronic communication patterns and identifiers from consumer electronics.
The purpose of the technology is to “bridge the gap between vehicle and occupant.”
By tracking which devices consistently travel together, the software associates otherwise anonymous signals (like MAC addresses) with specific vehicles.
A device signature can help identify the person or people inside the vehicle. Once those data sets are connected, the surveillance target shifts from the car to the occupants.
This technology feels different from ordinary traffic enforcement.
It is not just recording a vehicle passing through an intersection. It is building a location intelligence layer around the devices people carry every day.

700mw green laser pointed at it would do or a piece of electrical tape for that matter.
Limp mode, like when you run out of DEF. If a driver's face can't be detected, you simply can't go more than 15mph or whatever.
This is for US passenger vehicles, the safety uber alles crowd (safety over all from white women) took over our political system decades ago, and half this board is worried about Jews.

Examples of Driver Attention Warning in U.S. Passenger Vehicles.
Most new vehicles are equipped with driver attention warning systems, but there are a few specific examples of driver attention warnings in the U.S. market today which include:
Honda Driver Attention Monitor: The angle sensor monitors the degree of driver steering-wheel corrections to keep a stable lane position. It will notify the driver if it detects excessive correction activity. Additionally, if the system determines that the driver isn’t paying attention, it will automatically switch to an alternate screen. It will display one or two bars and a message informing them to take a break. If the detected level of attention grows worse, the system will produce a more noticeable visual warning. Addtionally, it will give an audio alert and vibrate the steering wheel to encourage driver attention.
Toyota Driver Attention Monitor: The driver’s eyes are monitored by an infrared light source and camera to determine where the driver is looking. It accounts for how long he or she looks there and signs of lane departure or wandering in the vehicle’s travel path. If a potential problem is detected with driver gaze behavior, both audible warning sounds (beeps) and visual warning messages are displayed. The driver’s attention monitor may be configured to give a driver attention alert and sound an alarm when the driver is looking away from the road for more than three seconds or if other potentially dangerous driving behavior occurs.

You’ll see beards in their natural habitat, some may be indistinguishable from when torso stops and legs begin on the more older versions

All a driver needs is a stroked Chevy 350, Muncie 4 speed, am radio, and a heater.
Life is sweet.
