The Quebecois were bribed with money and autonomy to remain in Canada. Most of the money used to bribe Quebec and prop up the Maritimes comes from Alberta giving tax money without receiving any benefits for it. Alberta is being used as a tax colony to bribe Quebec into siding with Ottowa.

Good point. Best to do one thing at a time.

Not since the 90’s.
One of the referendums was lost by a razor thin margin.
With each passing one (4 in total), the federal government gave them concessions (especially more autonomy).
Let’s see what happens with Alberta.
If they go, Canada Balkanizes imho.

“Quebec has been trying for years and it hasnt happened“
Never had a President like Trump before. Better chance than ever of this happening

You sure? They don't want to attack or overthrow the government. They want to peacefully leave.

The Canadian government will call it such because leaving is never an option for authoritarian governments.
And for those who think I am being overly harsh, keep in mind the shite they pulled on the truckers protesting in the past few years. They did shite that made Chinese depositors in their bank bug out because they believed the government would freeze or seize their money on a whim.

Yep. Alberta is the only net contributor to their federal treasury. Without Alberta paying the bills, Canada folds like a WalMart lawn chair.

Would be nice to bring them on but they have a much better chance at becoming their own sovereign nation vs joining the US.
Just to become their own country, a Canadian province has to have a full majority vote (easiest part though they're not quite there yet) and have to negotiate with Canada (not so easy really). Canada would want half their resource income in perpetuity and likely a lot more concessions involving defense and other stuff.
Going the "join the US" route would be far more difficult and realistically, Canada would never negotiate with the US for it (too much of a perceived insult for now) and if somehow they did, they would ask for 10x as much. Imagine what they'd ask for if multiple provinces left.
So they become their own country (easiest way to divorce) and then a day later agree to become 51st US state. Once they are a state we tell Canada to frick off about any agreements in place prior to statehood.
Done and done

Decades ago they just printed up t-shirts. Now, with the internet, it's going way beyond slogans.

To become a state, Alberta would have to first after seceding from Canada
1. Form a government and state constitution that is in compliance with the U.S. Constitution
2. Legislation must be passed by simple majority in both chambers admitting them as a state
3. Signed by the President

We need to immediately offer Alberta statehood.

Canada hasn’t the might nor the stomach to curtail Alberta if its people want to separate.
Posted on 5/11/25 at 12:26 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
Ottawa would go full CCP on Alberta before they’d let the province go.

Alberta is over here practicing self-determination and this guy is running around talking about treason.
Tells you just how turned around and brain washed some people are with regards to freedom and independence.
