please tell us what weapon system could’ve done as you describe, at that altitude.

I’ll play devils advocate here and tell you what I heard as the reason why they didn’t brrrttt the balloon. The story is that brrrttt holes would not deflate the balloon fast enough and it still could have drifted into international waters, and make finding it for recovery more difficult. The shrapnel from the sidewinder instead shredded the ever living shite out of the balloon, making it drop instantly within US territorial waters and easy to locate for recovery.

I'm pretty sure the F-22 and some other planes could get to that altitude and use some guns, but there may have been worries about debris getting sucked into the engines or something like that.

Local witness said she counted 8 planes.

That she could see.

I'm betting a whole squadron was used when a pair (at most) would have been enough.

I went to a football game this weekend where 5 planes flew over the stadium. Let's not pretend now we care ha.

Why the need for the ballon at all? Joe could have hunter give them anything they want, right?

It was a weapon of some sort. Nothing else makes sense.

Half a million dollars to shoot a baloon down!

I don't have a problem with it. If you think that expensive you'll hate to see bill on a live fire training session. They shoot off a ton of rounds, ordinance. I just consider as training mission.

I've seen vid in Ukraine where Russia captures caches of Javelins. That's 200,000 a pop. They train on those, they miss their target, etc. I'm sure they are selling off some of the US arms.

"According to the U.S. Army's 2023 budget for missile procurement, the cost for a single Javelin all-up round – that is, one missile – is $197,884."

The disconnect of reality on display is stunning.

A football game vs a CCP spy balloon.

Time to equip some Blackbirds. Not sure how that high of an altitude would affect anything other than missiles, but the YF-12 would be fun to see with some guns.

Which means they could have brrrttt the ballon in Alaska or Montana and recoved it to see what it was doing, tech wise. If it isn't dropping fast enough from there send more brrrttt through it.

WHICH MEANS they didn't want to stop it before it's mission had been carried out.

They probably didn't want to risk missing it. Could you imagine the shite they would get for not hitting a balloon?

All of our current fighters could fly that altitude.

Let’s not forget that the Biden Administration knew about this balloon before it ever got to Alaska.

That means it could have been shot down over US coastal waters using a much cheaper munitions.

You’d think they’d want to capture the balloon to find out what it was doing?

This whole thing is complete bullshite. I don’t buy it for a second.

Got to be in a pressure suit when over 50k. Not something done or trained for routinely.

As I’m not sure but would a drone been able to pop that balloon at 60,000 feet?

Just imagine if the government took that money and gave it back to the people, every tenth person or so would get a penny. Such a shameful waste.
