Abolishing the Senate

We've all heard several democrat elected officials and some trying to get elected advocate for abolishing the Senate.
What is the basis for this?
And how do they plan to do this? Some magical decree? What senator will vote himself out of a job? If we could clone KBJ eight times and put all 9 of them on the SCOTUS, how does even THAT type of court determine that this is constitutional?

The senate gives states they don't like power. Without it they can rule by mob

Violence.

And they also advocate for the same things and would caucus with the same politicians that some people on here vote for. And that fact will also not cause them a second of thought.

Complete and absolute stupidity.

That's their problem. They never look down the road. They never plan. They never calculate. They never think. They just wanna do. No... actually that's wrong. They want someone else to do.

They don't plan to, but it gives the NPC's a new chant. Have to remember Leftist policies can't be more than 3 words long. "Abolish ICE" "Abolish the police" "Black lives matter" "Pack the court" etc.

Why does this dumb shite keep coming up?
The senate is a part of our government. It is not going to be abolished.
If it actually is ever abolished, you can rest assured we do not have a government any more.

They only want direct representation. They don't want Iowa to have the same legislative clout as California has in the Senate. This is a nascent revolution taking place. When and if they are elected, they will claim a mandate even if they win by 1/2%. Rough times are ahead.

They have no platform to attract new voters, other than illegal immigration.
Their own base doesn't even wholly support illegals.
So, you have to change the rules to compete.

Trump should come out in favor of this so he can unilaterally pass the Save Act and get all of his nominations confirmed
The left will abandon this stupid idea then

Well, it comes up because there are elected officials, and some who are trying to get elected who are in favor of it.
IMO, it KEEPS coming up, because those democrats who consider themselves "normal" refuse to clean up their own house and allow the message to fester. Likely, because they'll accept anyone and everyone under their tent, as long as they oppose Trump. They fail to realize that at some point they will be beholden to these freaks and owe them favors.

It would be very difficult to pull this off. it would require passing a constitutional amendment under Article V, which requires a two-thirds vote in both congressional chambers and ratification by three-fourths of the states.

To make low IQ voters think this is some great idea that will bring about change. The politicians pushing this are either stupid and don't know how difficult it would be or are doing it on purpose just to try and show they have "bold" ideas.

They want to install COMMUNISM...plain and simple. They want to destroy our God given rights by abolishing the constitution, the senate and the electoral college... among other things.

senate - 2 senators per state. California = North Dakota with respect to senate representation
house - proportional to population California 52 reps to North Dakota's 1 rep
eliminate the senate and it becomes population only, no more individual states having say (what the senate gives now) also, with no senate, no filabuster. so a simple majority in house and pass anything with the same party in white house.
first dem house majority and dem president and you get crazy CA/NY/WA/OR style laws passed effecting the whole country
single payer health care, amnesty, gun control, universal main in ballot, green new deal, wealth taxes, ect
US would be D.O.A. as we currently know it

One low key way would be abolishing the filibuster and using the nuclear option on all votes, including legislation.
The power weighting wouldn’t be as pronounced as in the House, but it would be a big step in that direction.
There’s a reason we don’t allow simple majorities to pass things in the senate. Any move in that direction is a mistake.

I have a hard time standing up for our Congress, D or R, given the massive, obvious corruption through lobbyists, insider trading, and outright cash from places like Qatar and China. Aside from the distant possibility that 98% of them are beaten senseless with shovels and bats by the masses, I'd at least like to see a mandate or amendment (I know, I know) require them to vote with their constituents when there is a 70% or greater consensus on issues. And if that passed and they were beaten senseless afterward anyway, well then darn.

without the "hated" filibuster we would see huge swings every time we have a power transition. the filibuster puts a check on the power of change in Washington, which is a good thing for both parties (and the people)
