Hmm, Iran not acting as a terrorist state in the region when the nuclear ambition goes away, mining the international waters to control the shipping lanes that send oil and other commodities into the world markets driving up costs indefinitely, if possible a quiet Mideast without migration into western economies? These are American interests and have been kicked down the road by many administrations. Think of those blood & treasures that have been lost because of complacency in that region. What Israel does or doesn’t do really is less concerning as they are but a bench player but I’d rather have them than be without a second string lineman

Energy is typically taken out of "core" inflation because of its volatility. However, it does impact consumer prices (fuel to deliver freight, people, etc. increases those costs).
Ok yeah that’s what I thought. I was referring to the measurement which is used inconsistently in headlines.

Who blinks first? Iran has every incentive to draw this out.

Agreed. No rate cut this year. The strong jobs number coupled with the creeping inflation makes for an environment more conducive to rate increase than a cut.
A couple of areas that can create some offset to the inflation we’re seeing is the elimination of the increased tarrifs and the tax reductions brought about by the big beautiful bill.
If we can find a way to end the Iran war, we could see some gradual reduction in gas prices but as of now, an end is not in sight

Gas prices always drive inflation and are one of the key reasons it was so high under Biden.
Most people here don't know shite about economies nor inflation. It was nearly 7% back to back months under Biden (an actual recession). Trump isn't even remotely close to approaching those levels. Most of what we are seeing already happened under Biden it's just being attributed (incorrectly) to trump. Yes, gas prices suck right now. Everything else also costs a lot more, but that's not because of trump.

Energy is often the 2nd leading driver of inflation, right behind housing.
The cost of everything goes up when energy prices are high, due to the cost of doing business and that being passed along to the consumer.

Yep. The over $3 trillion in COVID spending by Trump didn’t affect inflation at all. The Iran war isn’t affecting anything either.

Trump started the fire by injecting Trillions into the economy in a 10 month span. Biden then took over and threw kerosene on the fire by injecting even more. All of this was completely unnecessary and needless. The idea to pay people to:
sit at home and not work
shut the supply chain down
tell people they didn't have to pay: mortgages, rent, credit cards, car payments, student loan payments, hell basically any kind of payment
all the while injecting Trillions in free money (Stimulus) that was rife with fraud and corruption and telling people and businesses they didn't have to pay it back was utter stupidity.
This was a joint effort by both the Trump and Biden administrations. Both of them contributed to it and we still haven't recovered from it.

Though energy rapidly rising with the Iran War has pushed up the 10Y significantly which has a major impact on housing (and everything else).

You are too dumb to see the irony there.

This is the WWII of our time. This is a mild sacrifice to ensure our country isn’t turned Muslim by Iran.
