I’m old enough to see the failed attempt at controlling Iran nuclear ambitions and their terrorist activity. Hell I’m even old enough to remember tens of billions in cash being allowed into the Iranian coffers by Biden and his puppet master Obama to keep them from going nuclear enrichment.

Locally, families that have never done so are going to food banks. It was all over the local news.

Not because of inflation.

Did they lose a job?

Thats why families go to food banks.

How much were they making 12 months ago vs now.

So they including gas prices for inflation index again.

The standard "headline" Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) includes food and energy costs. Always has. Core CPI does not.

Those items you mentioned can be reduced easily enough as oil futures drop again peace in Mideast. That would make it a short term thing

The fertilizer disruption has a lagging impact because, you know, we are growing those crops now and that takes time.

I'm not on board with paying $5 a gallon for gasoline over Iran, Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Mexico, Ireland or any country. Whatever happened to America First? Iran is and will always be Israel's problem not ours. The American consumer is getting screwed over right now all because Iran was supposedly "two weeks" away from a nuke which is something that they have been saying since I was in college in the early 2000's. Make it make sense.

I think I read something about a month ago that the last of the ships that left Hormuz before the conflict finally reached their destinations. There has basically been no commerce through that area for two months now other than a few ships here and there. Maybe we luck out and it's only poor countries that take a hit.

Do gas prices and airfares affect the rate of inflation?

ETA: I meant CPI, sorry I’m dumb today

Wrong, the key reason inflation was so high under Biden was because we were giving millions of illegals billions of dollars.

Maybe not inflation but definitely created more issues than we need - an just for votes nonetheless

Energy is typically taken out of "core" inflation because of its volatility.

However, it does impact consumer prices (fuel to deliver freight, people, etc. increases those costs).

They should suck it up and be grateful they are allowed to pay more for basic goods - Sincerely, PT Trumpkins

Inflation is a function of increasing the money supply without increasing the value backing it. Since there’s 24T in worldwide dollars and we print 2T per year, US inflation is 8% annually.
