I really don't see the issue. A small percentage of ND professors and other employees are expressing their constitutionally protected opinion. Just as some of her fellow professors also expressed their opinion and gave their support of ACB (as also stated in the article).

Many on this board rightfully objected to conservative speakers not being allowed to speak at various universities (mainly in California). Aren't universities supposed to be places where differing opinions are discussed and debated respectfully?

Better or worse than the idiot who claims to have spent six years getting training to be a diversity coordinator?

The Constitution absolutely does not include any right to an opinion, or the right to work for a private employer, or to express your views on any matter to the general public.

There is no such thing as a right to sign a letter written solely by law clerks for publication in a newspaper. Doesn’t exist

The University clearly approved of the letter so the faculty can publish it. But the government is not involved at all with this, and there are zero constitutional implications.

The right to Freedom of speech is included in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

They did nothing wrong; they expressed their opinion.

Well since there are over 1,200 teachers at ND, I wonder what the other 1,100+ think about it.

The vast majority are most likely proud of her (as I am) for being nominated to the Supreme Court.

Oh, well I didn't realize they got the librarians too. It's over, wrap it up. Trump should just pack it in too. They have the librarians.

The American Library Association has been heavily liberal for years. It routinely opposes attempts to have controversial literature removed from facilities (e.g. Heather Has Two Mommies).

The criticism is the MSM's attempt to claim that ACB "lacks support from her faculty colleagues", when the letter doesn't include a single colleague in the school where she actually teaches, but is another liberal hitpiece signed by highly liberal folks.

Isn't Notre Dame a Catholic school? Doesn't seem like the type of place left wing loons would want to work at.

The Catholic Church, and especially the Catholic universities, have definitely been infected by the parasitic hive mind.

I can’t even take solace, as a Catholic, that the Catholic Church is far from being alone among the Christian sects to have been infiltrated and infected. Heck, the Southern Baptist Church is struggling with the same.

But far from being comforted, the sobering reality of the degree of degeneration of Western (Christian) civilization continues to shock my senses. I am goaded into taking a stand.

They have the right to their opinion. But their opinions of whether or not ACB should be a justice are as valuable as mine, which is to say not at all. Have an opinion on it sure, but signing a letter as if that opinion should carry weight and have value, that is laughable and they should be embarrassed. And we should all laugh at them for their arrogance and that they think of themselves as so important.

The Southern Baptist CONVENTION is struggling with it. True Southern Baptist Churches block that nonsense at the door.
