Serious question. I've got a 2017 Lexus ES250 with 100K. I was planning on driving it 3 or 4 more years. But now I'm worried that by then new gas cars are gonna be taxed to the hilt if Dems take control. Therefore, I should buy a 1-y.o. Lexus now.
What do you think?

If Reichart somehow wins the Gubernatorial election Washington will back out of this.

I’ve got an 07 ES350 I’m thinking the same…

Buying a Lexus is never a bad move IMO. I am ignorant about timing it on a calendar to get the best deal, especially with such a recent model.

I'm still in a 2015 GS 350 and I'm going to upgrade to the LS at some point... I keep hoping they'll make the interior less feminine, but the F Sport is okay. If the Dems win again (God forbid) I think I'd agree with you and I'd buy it soon before more laws take effect.

Some baw living in east Oregon is ready to take up arms over this. They are probably lucky to find a gas station.

Without reading the article first, let me see if I can guess the 8. Assuming the 8 doesn't include California of course.

1) Oregon
2) Washington
3) Illinois
4) New York
5) Massachusetts
6) Connecticut
7) Vermont
8) Debating between Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, let's go with RI

ETA: Damn, I was close though. Should have known NJ and MD, stunned that VT, CT and IL haven't jumped on the bandwagon. They will, give it time.

California was the first state to adopt the plan to ban sales of gas cars by 2035

No they won't. Their laws are weird in that if CARB (California Air Resources Board) determines that it isn't feasible, they can delay implementation indefinitely.

Americans will not be forced to take their gas-powered cars off the road, however, and will still be able to buy used and secondhand gas vehicles.

California is about to become Cuba. Everyone will just keep their old gassers held together somehow. Engine rebuilders in CA finna eat.

CA gonna power these charging stations, how?

With power from out of state fossil fuel power plants. Same as they have been doing for decades.

Car dealerships are likely buying up all the property along the NV and AZ state lines. It's going to be like opening a liquor store just across the line from a dry county/parish.

If they can ban dealerships from selling gas-powered cars, can’t we expect they’ll ban gas stations next?

If they aren't recharging those EVs with solar or wind, they're just jacking off.

If they are going to ban the sale of gasoline vehicles, shouldn't they go ahead and ban the sale of gasoline as well?
