This is false.

My first kid born in 2022, and my second kid born in 2024 both got $250 from Michael Dell.

This can already be done through a 529 account and a qualified transfer to a Roth down the line.
Take a group of poor kids without supportive family.

A 529 account ain’t likely.

I don’t know shite about this Trump savings account yet, but can these kids access this account without their parents? Now that I think about it probably not

But anyways, what’s wrong with giving everyone in the age range a chance simply out of fairness? What is your gripe?

If you already answered that I’ll read in in just a second.

You're conflating so many different things, yeah you probably should have read all posts first. This is how threads get derailed quickly. The 529 was in response to....nevermind.

You're assuming no additional rounds of funding come through rich donors

My son is 13, and hes notbauto enrolled in anything. I have recieved notice that he ELIGIBLE, but isnt yet enrolled and damn sure not iffered money.

See, most kids get into a 529c, which is money accumulated and used for higher education costs only.

The trump vehicle is basically the same, except the money can be used for anything, after a certain age, or converted over to retirement vehicle offere thru companies, etc

So wtf is your main concern?

You're making my point for me. Why is a 17 year old being automatically enrolled by the Treasury when they don't get the US $1k, they don't get Dell's money, they don't get any kind of match. And the chance they some rich third-party donor is going to donate a chunk before that 17 yr old turns 18 is slim to none. I get voluntarily enrolling for the 17 year old, but I don't get a forced automatic enrollment for that late teen. Anyway, whatever, I'm over this thread. Y'all have at it or just wack the fricken thing.

It's already been mentioned why someone might want it.

If your problem is the auto enroll, that's just logistically smart. It's easier and more efficient to auto enroll everyone eligible instead of creating infrastructure to process tens of millions of requests.

It's cheaper, too.

If a kid gets an account and doesn't use it, so what? No one is harmed. It doesn't change his life. There is no impact.

This doesn't seem like an issue worth complaining about, especially considering the good that the program does and the generosity of the private benefactors.

Yeah, capped at something like $30k.
The Trump accounts will probably be near $100k when I convert them. Plus if they don’t use their full 529s, I’ll stack more on top.

You still haven't outlined the negative

Obviously 17 year olds are right on the cutoff and stand to benefit the least. But that doesn't mean over the long haul it's a bad idea.

May I make a polite suggestion? Instead of using really weak reasoning and arguing way over your head, and kind of looking really stupid....

Why not just come on here and write:

We would probably have a lot more respect for you if you just screamed at the moon how much you don't like him, than coming on here and really trying hard to look smart but blowing it big time.

Be honest with us. Be honest with yourself.
