61% paid no income tax in 2020. Nobody pays taxes
That's why most people laugh when people say the rich don't pay their fair share.
This is only temporary though due to the increased child care tax credit.
Right now a family of 4 with 100k combined income can not only pay 0 taxes, but would be owed a refund.

My guess is 30-40%.
If you have kids and are below a certain income as an individual or between you and your spouse, the EITC is fricking huge.

No federal taxes while also drawing SNAP, WIC, Section 8, Medicare, Obamaphones, and about 50 other programs which effectively boost your income by thousands is definitely “no skin in the game”.

How much of that is because one or both spouses are unemployed?
Ya, had my wife been un-married, she'd be one not paying taxes. She is a message therapist and her business was killed by government mandates related to Covid.
We all still got fricking Covid anyway, so all the government managed to do with these mandates was kill business.

We didn't pay any, but we also didn't receive a dime of government money.

That is such a misleading statement. If you had FICA withheld from your paycheck, you paid taxes, regardless of whether or not you got a refund for OVERPAYMENT.

It should be 100%.
I agree. Until such time it should be 0%, though, at least accounting for everyone earning income.

She should be able to make a killing on twitter, or whatever.

Yours too?
My wife's business took almost $70,000 in losses last year due to mandates.

Wrong.
Being in the jurisdiction of US, State and local laws means you have skin in the game.
Participating in the economy means you have skin in the game.
Being registered for selective service means you have skin in the game.
Putting your dick in a woman means you have skin in the game.
Paying federal income taxes means you pay federal income taxes.
Quit trying to use cute cliches that you read on the internets.

So this is the first year my wife and I have been married for tax purposes.
Not so subtle brag, I make significantly more than her ex husband. At our tax consultation, she was completely red pilled. When she was surprised by how much we paid in income tax our accountant handed her an 'I did that' sticker. Clever fricker.

Meanwhile, I paid more in federal income tax last year than I made my first year out of college.
Now, I suppose you could take that as a subtle brag. But I remember how I felt when I got my first real job and thought that was a lot of money.
Now I’m giving away more than I brought home. Damn.

If you are on the government tit for thousands of dollars in excess of what you pay in, you don’t have skin in the game just for existing in this country.

I have paid plenty of taxes over the years but we may have been in this number. I am no longer working full time to go back to school and we have 2 kids. The kids got extra money from whatever that tax credit was, I got Cares money from my school plus the stimulus, however many of those we had. We wouldn't have qualified for the kids tax credit in previous years so I am not too familiar with how it works, we barely qualified for it last year.

That's actually incorrect. I've already listed some things that give you skin in the game that don't involve federal income taxes.
If the federal government can draft me or incarcerate me, I definitely have skin in the game.
Or do you think only federal income tax payers should have to register with Selective Service?

3 pillars of our society relative to voting should be:
1. Had to have paid federal income tax the previous year
2. Be a landowner
3. IQ above a demented potato

You don’t pay taxes, then you don’t get a vote.
Why should a leech get a say in how the tax dollars are spent if they are a taker, not a contributor?
