Where did you answer that specifically? You said you can pay taxes and be an illegal - that’s not really telling anything. Yes you could pay taxes on purchases or property taxes like we all do but what about income taxes?

Do the Republicans REALLY want stories like this to play out in a media a million times this year? Because it will if Trump doesn't sign a DACA deal and the Republicans are going to get blamed for it.

So if the guys commits a felony, and he did my coming here illegaly, would you feel better if he had been sent to prison instead of being deported to his homeland?

How could he apply for citizenship when he was brought here by an undocumented as a child?

I guarantee your stupid arse that at some point in his life he could’ve brought his ILLEGAL arse back, across the border and applied for citizenship. The fact that you and yours are going to bat for people that aren’t even fricking citizens over the ACTUAL citizens of this country is mind boggling.

He does have a criminal record. He’s in the USA illegally.

Why hasn’t he become a citizen since he’s been here since 10? Once he became 18 he should have followed the path to citizenship

Two of my friends, gay, have spent thousands for one of them to immigrate here from Australia. Thousands. And they've done it all legally.

Why do you think this man should cut to the front of the line ahead of this gay couple and not pay a cent? Why do you care more about this man than my friends who have followed the law, waited their turn, and paid the appropriate fees?

Why don't you look at these stories? Why don't you go out and talk to legal immigrants and learn about their plight instead of coming on here every day and judging us?

Jesus Christ.

quote:

Undocumented immigrants pay sales, income and property taxes. ITEP reports that in 2013 alone, the average effective state and local tax rate of undocumented immigrants was 8 percent, compared to 5.4 percent for the top 1 percent of all taxpayers. This translated into $11.6 billion in state and local taxes paid by the undocumented community in 2013.

How many undocumented immigrants pay taxes in the United States? “The best evidence suggests that at least 50 percent of undocumented immigrant households currently file income tax returns using Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs),” according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.

What is the Individual Tax Identification Number (ITINs)? It’s a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service. ITINs let more people pay into the system, which builds the tax base. In fact, over 3 million people—not all necessarily undocumented immigrants however— paid over $870 million in income taxes using an ITIN, and according to the IRS, ITIN filers pay $9 billion in payroll taxes annually.

I've already answered that. I've never thought of you as having any knowledge of politics or any other issue brought up on this board, so I'll give you a pass.

Alright I read through you post history to see if you answered this

I did not see your answer

So i googled it, since we are clueless - this is what I found from the Atlantic.

quote:

It works like this: Many immigrants who aren’t authorized to work in the United States buy fake Social Security cards and present them to their employers, who either don’t know they are fake or don’t look too closely. When the employer submits a W-2 form and a tax payment on those workers’ behalf to the Social Security Administration, the federal government holds onto those payroll taxes, even if the Social Security number isn’t linked to anyone on file. And then, a large chunk of that money ends up in the Social Security trust funds, from which retirement benefits are doled out to aging Americans.

The Social Security system has grown increasingly reliant on this stream of revenue, particularly as aging Baby Boomers start to retire. Stephen Goss, the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, estimates that about 1.8 million immigrants were working with fake or stolen Social Security cards in 2010, and he expects that number to reach 3.4 million by 2040. He calculates that undocumented immigrants paid $13 billion into the retirement trust fund that year, and only got about $1 billion in benefits. “We estimate that earnings by unauthorized immigrants result in a net positive effect on Social Security financial status generally, and that this effect contributed roughly $12 billion to the cash flow of the program for 2010,” Gross concluded in a 2013 review of the impact of undocumented immigrants on Social Security.

Ironically, it was a piece of legislation aimed at curbing the hiring of undocumented immigrants that created this steady source of revenue for the Social Security system. In 1986, the Immigration Reform and Control Act set penalties for employers who knowingly hired undocumented immigrants. It was the first time the federal government had made it a crime to employ undocumented workers. Yet instead of destroying the underground labor market, this new law just made it more sophisticated, producing a thriving market for fake U.S. birth certificates, IDs and social security cards, which undocumented workers presented to their employers when asked for their papers. Undocumented workers started filling out W-2 forms, and the federal government began receiving and holding onto payroll taxes, even though the fake social security numbers didn’t match anyone in the system. The Social Security Administration sends no-match letters to employers to alert them of the problem and urge them to resolve it.

Why don't you enlighten us then on why he couldn't start filing for legal status 21 years ago when he turned 18...I await your reason...

You ride the bus in California (Central Valley) and nobody speaks English...even the bus driver.

You call your local bank to transfer funds and you have to sit through a monologue in Spanish before pressing 2 to get English.

Everyone at the DMV greets you in Spanish first, same with the airports and banks in Miami too. Probably San Antonio too.

So it's easy for someone to think they never had to get legal when they could exist banking, driving and working with no legal status and no knowledge of the English language.

We've bent our society to make it easy for people to NOT assimilate and yet thrive.

Democrats are the ones that walked away from the table and now they are trying to act as if it was Trump that walked off. Everything is about race to these people but the blacks and the hispanics are figuring it out. The democrats will be destroyed as a party by the time he finishes his first term. The gems literally think women and minorities are too stupid to do anything without white democrats championing for them. A white democrat is the most racist person in the US.

Idc about their sob story. Everyone has a sob story.

Just because a sob story is in an article or on tv, doesn't give it any more significance than the sob stories not in articles or on tv.

If he was such a good citizen for so long he should have gone through the process to get legal residency

Too bad. Law is the law
