So evil for people to leak this.

All city officials that speak about this incident in and out of court need to be forced to say what was said and not some short version. "What "n word" are you talking about...no, nope, new, nice, noteworthy? You need to be specific for the record". Once said then they should be arrested.

Stupidity earns a stupid response. Hope this city and all involved with this get penalized in some way.

Is that a Native American on the Huma PD seal? How dare Dana Coleman and the Huma PD appropriate Native American culture for use on an emblem. I demand that the insensitive racist Dana Coleman be fired and arrested immediately for this racist act.

Is that how this game is played?

students face charges of inciting a riot, hate crimes, and cyberbullying.
I'll move on from harrassing LSUAngelHere1 to ask a serious question. They were arrested for "inciting a riot, hate crimes, and cyberbullying". Doesn't there have to be something actionable, as "in meet here at a certain time and this is what we are going to do" for it to be considered a crime? I thought cyberbullying had reached some level of criminality but not sure if this rises to the level of cyberbullying. What has to happen to be considered real "cyberbullying"?

The two boys can say they identify as black. And because they are black, they can’t be racist, because they are in the minority, and thus, have no power.

They are unique individuals and are the minority.

People need to remember we have individual rights. We are individuals, the greatest minority.

I also noted that the DA (a white dude) is a Southern U Law graduate.

You would be surprised to see how many white attorneys are SU Law grads. Many couldn’t get into LSU.

I agree. It's a slippery slope for the State to determine what words are a 'crime', based on a particular ideological or cultural criterion.

This should be a good case to go all the way to the Supreme Court. Has to happen. Otherwise, at some point, anything that 'offends' the State or the State's chosen people will be criminalized.

What was the crime? Hate crime is a motive. You can't be arrested for saying things people don't like. Morons.

I don't care about racial slurs. We watched the left for decades exclaim that to prohibit words is to give them power. They wanted to normalize all sorts of vulgarity. Same rules. Get over it and move on with life.

So why don't all the local and national rappers get charged for this same "crime" when they do it on "song" videos?

I believe in Louisiana you must be charged with a crime and if that crime is motivated by hate towards a group, you can be charged a hate crime as well.

In this case, “inciting a riot” and “cyberbullying” are the charges that allow for the additional hate crime charge

What riot and whom were they bullying. These clowns arresting them need to be removed from position.

This is clearly not a crime.
The Louisiana legislature obviously felt differently.

Was that a good decision? That is a different question.

I am curious about the legal theory as to how one would file suit against an elected official for enforcing a statute which was enacted by your (mostly White and Republican) legislature.

A little context here on what was said and how they said it would be nice.
