HOUMA, La. (WVUE) - Two high school students have been arrested and accused of hate crimes after video circulated on social media of them using racial slurs on campus.
The two unidentified Terrebonne High School students face charges of inciting a riot, hate crimes, and cyberbullying.
In the video, the students are heard repeatedly using the n-word and making racially motivated statements about several African American students.
Superintendent Bubba Orgeron says the video displays despicable language and thoughts.
“This type of behavior and disgusting display of content will never be tolerated by our school system,” Orgeron said in a statement.
Houma police say the investigation is ongoing.

This is clearly not a crime.

You shouldn’t be arrested for saying words unless you are plotting some sort of violence.

I thought you only reported on vaccine deaths. You widening your breadth? For the record, are you for or against racial slurs?

This is what Booker and Harris were trying to get passed. This needs to be shot down immediately.

I hope they sue everyone involved for infringing on their free speech rights when they are released

Not my fault so many are suddenly dying

I'll bet "Bubba" doesn't do a fricking thing if "cracker" or "white trash" is espoused to a white student by a black student.

Not directed at me but I’ll chime in.
I wouldn’t speak racial slurs and think poorly of those who use them in malice but I don’t think people who say them should be arrested and jailed.

Go figure some white kids get arrested for saying a word that’s recited multiple times in each rap song. Said songs are even played at Terrebonne high football games where women and children are present:

Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman, I hope he gets sued along with Superintendent Bubba.

None of these is a crime. Well inciting a riot can be but it’s incredibly difficult to prove even if the inciting is done in person, physically on site.

Is there a chart that says what amount of black you have to be to use the no no word? Is it half? 25%?
It's unbelievable that this word still gets power.

The two boys can say they identify as black. And because they are black, they can’t be racist, because they are in the minority, and thus, have no power.

This is more of the camel getting his nose in the tent...what government official is now to be the determining gate keeper of offensive language and what language is a criminal "hate crime"? This governmental over-reach should scare and/or enrage all people...blacks included.
