Democrats don't care what they destroy or scrap - math, economics, and logic don't matter to liberals.

In plundering the society for their own benefit, nothing stands in the way of the Democrat platform.

He’ll probably ship it all to Iran on Chinese ships so Iran can build a new pipeline.

Idiot take, Chad. That’s an utterly senseless waste of material & capital that Joe is placing on business for absolutely no legitimate reason other than virtue signal to his political base.

Think of all the effort to make the pipe to transport petro energy, and petro is still profitable.

You have to mine the metal. The metal has to be refined and cast/formed as pipe, then delivered.

Millions upon millions of dollars just to run a pipeline, and Joe just kills it because some liberal frick decides it might harm the great spotted owl's nesting place. As if the owl can't fly to a tree 300' away.

pipe is in 40 foot joints. that is loose carbon steel API 5L line pipe. shorter pup pieces are cut of varying schedules for transitions coming off road bore, etc and tie ins too main line.

I can promise you the pipe will not be scrapped. It will be sold off to various companies that will use it for structural jobs (bridges, piers, pilings etc.) or other pipeline jobs. However they're likely only to get 10-30 cents on the dollar.

I work for a pipeline company and one of the responsibilities of my group is to manage/sell/redeploy surplus or idle assets.

In 2015/2016 we cancelled two projects and and were left with 220 miles of 16" pipe and 70 miles of 30". We were able to sell it all over the course of a few years.

I've seen most of this Keystone pipe, most of it was actually manufactured by Welspun in Arkansas. It was sitting in their laydown yard for 5-8 years before they recently started moving it again in 2018-2019.

I can promise you the majority of the pipe is NOT in 40ft joints. I'm guessing they're at least triple randoms which would put them at 60'. But my guess is that they're actual quads (80'). The in-field welding cost would be astronomical if they were only using 40's, and the project would take twice as long.
