Funny that Arthur Schwartz tweet is gone.

The wall is much worse. Those are government contracts ...There are clauses within those contracts that say, if the project is halted, all materials purchased for the project are to be paid by the government. So, we will be paying for every stick of steel and all materials for concrete, even though the project is stopped. Absolute waste of money and inventory.
If the company manufacturing the steel for site use can sell the product, they'll make a killing on the resale.

The thing that has made America and England for that matter, economic and financial power houses over long periods of time has been the stability of the system and contract law. The existence of enforceable contracts and laws governing interactions between commercial entities provides structure and recourse, thus allowing capital to be spent in relative security. Places with unstable governments where the rule of law is not respected do not provide this structure and security of capital, and thus, founder economically.
This is a really big deal that Biden can just step in and by executive fiat, stop work. It will eventually spell the end to our way of life. The courts need to slap his peepee.

All part of the plan to systematically defund red states into submission, as someone else pointed out on this board.

frick that I'd make the government pay for breach of contract...then I'd scrap it

This is what happens when you trust Republicans to govern competently. Who could have possibly predicted that a Democratic POTUS would rescind the Keystone permit because it's an environmental disaster waiting to happen? What were the odds?

I can promise you the majority of the pipe is NOT in 40ft joints.
i am referring to him in general how the pipe is made and mostly dealt with and stacked in lay dwn yards(unless pre fabbed double joints) and yes there is loose 40 footers i guarantee. yes they could have pre-fabbed double jointers as these ship just fine on a trailer. N0t quads, t00 long to be shipped on trailer. those would have to be made 0n the R0W and then lowered in for tie ins.

My Company moved all the pipe. The avg joint was 75 feet long @ .500 wall. Most of the pipe is still sitting in Louisiana at our yard right off I-10.
Edit: it was 366 miles of pipe not 150 that is just sitting around now.

Biden is making me wish for Jimmah Carter. He went anal in the WH making it 'green' before it was cool. Joe will mandate every building in all of USA be rebuilt green.
Xrazy crazy Joe gonna force the great global communism reset & green new deal all at once.

I can promise you the pipe will not be scrapped. It will be sold off to various companies that will use it for structural jobs (bridges, piers, pilings etc.) or other pipeline jobs. However they're likely only to get 10-30 cents on the dollar.
I work for a pipeline company and one of the responsibilities of my group is to manage/sell/redeploy surplus or idle assets.
You are correct here however from an accounting and legal perspective the pipe will be scrapped according to the books. The salvage value will be accounted for when the pipe is sold.

Welspun can make quads and they ship by rail straight from their facility. And you can ship quads via trailer, you just use stretch/pole trailers. But you can only get 2 joints of 42" per truck due to weight. Which is why most gets shipped via rail to a multiple laydown yards, it's offloaded and stacked, then it's moved to the ROW by truck

So triple random lengths.

They are Quads one pipe is considered 20 ft (Which it's never made that way) Typically 40, 60, or 75-80 Ft.
