Don't order a coffee grinder from the UK then, seems like a pretty easy solution.

the "de minimis exemption" is a trade practice that allows shipments of goods worth less than a certain amount to enter a country free from duties and taxes. In the US, the exemption has been for goods under $800

So prior to this, individual item under $800 were exempt from tariff's. now the exemption is removed. Also, China now has a 145% tariff

So if the Tariff charge was 1019, then the grinder was $702.75.

I just did an internet search for "coffee Grinder mande in USA" and this came up:

LINK

you can buy the American made one for $819.07 /Each

So you can but one for $112 more but get one made with US food grade standards and better quality.....

I mean tariffs make things more expensive until they don’t anymore.

How does that work? What is the mechanism that lowers the price back to pre-tariff levels?

Are you under the impression that the shipping notification is fake?

Yea, no one would ever photoshop something. Never ever. And companies routinely display charges with no dollar sign. Not to mention the sheer absurdity of the tariff charge being over $1k

and LOL Reddit on top of all that

The brand is Niche UK. To answer Y.A. Tittle's question, the grinder is $670 before tariffs, so 145% tariff is right in line with the $1000 posted in the image.

A niche (no pun intended) hobby makes it a first world problem, yes, but why should Americans suffer and pay the cost of this? There is no US alternative to this product. There is no American espresso industry to protect and onshore.

This is OUTRACEOUS! Coffee Grinders are essential like TVs. How will the poor and people of color be able to grind their own coffe now? Sickening!!!

It's only a matter of time until these tariffs kill someone, This insanity has to stop!!!!

You'll need to explain that. Why isn't "competition" doing that now? Why do we need the tariffs?

Because American wages can't compete with Chinese slave wages. That's the whole point of this entire thing.

1. This won't cause prices to rise
2. Prices will go up but only on things we don't care about <------- you are here
