In for Mardi Gras with my GF and looking for a lunch spot Saturday.

I usually only frequent NOLA for dinner, so I'm relatively unfamiliar with lunch places.

Sandwich/poboy/burgers/salad are preferred. I guess just a casual spot that has legit food.

I'll be on Second St. off St. Charles. Not limited to Garden District though, can be in FQ or Uptown

TIA

If they have the Croque Monster as a special, get that.

I'd have to go over to port of call and have a burger.

New burger joint has just opened on Magazine and Jackson, within walking distance of there. I haven't been, so can't really comment otherwise.

Stein's Deli is right across the street from it and is great for sandwiches as well.

Yea, I'm pissed at this thread for temping me to go look at their site. Seeing this damn thing just made me both hungry and upset that my lunch will be shite compared.

Damn them.

I ate at Joey K's on Magazine a few weeks ago and it was very good. I have no idea of the crowds that might be there during Mardi Gras weekend. It's not a large place, but the food was very good. My oyster poboy was wonderful. The further away from a parade route, the better luck you have, I would think, unless you can get a reservation somewhere.

I have a large wonton soup I didn't eat last night. I may go and try to find a food truck.

Not sure if it's all booked up, but if you can get a reservation, go for Sunday brunch at Atchafalaya on Louisiana and Laurel.

I assume you're talking about Charcoal, is it open? I couldn't tell last time I drove past.

If you're in the Garden District, go to Lilly's Cafe on Magazine and get the Spicy Shrimp Pho.

You'll thank me later.

Another good one. Magazine Po-Boy Shop is criminally underrated especially for the roast beef. Tracy's is only two block away and gets a ton of praise, but IMO Magazine is a much better roast beef. I like how they put it in the oven after it is made to allow the bread to heat and slightly crisp.

ETA: Our tastes almost mirror each other.
