I've been to Parasol's several times, but want to try something different.

I do love their firecracker shrimp and roast beef

Yeah that pisses me off too. I would love to be able to pick up a poboy on the way home from work.

I've heard good things about Port of Call as well

Port of Call for Mardi Gras will have a line and a wait that you will not believe. If you go there, put your name on the list and get a Neptune Monsoon and just wait it out.

Cafe Pontabla, in Jackson Square by St. Louis Cathedral, 546 St. Peter Street is a Louisiana Creole cafe. Good food.. Not really a tourist trap although it would seem to be one. You probably will not have too bad of a wait in line here.

Mona Lisa in the French Quarter.. 1212 Royal Street has very good pizza and Italian food. It's not a tourist trap and you probably will be able to get a seat rather quickly there.

Verti Mart at 1201 Royal has sandwiches and salads that are pretty good.. It's Brad Pitt's favorite sandwich joint.. (but don't expect to see him there at Mardi Gras)

Cafe Amelie at 912 Royal in the French Quarter has a great atmosphere and is a fun place for lunch or brunch.

Central Grocery 923 Decatur for muffulettas.. If you're interested in this locals specialty, go on Saturday. They're closed on Sunday

Johnny's Poboy's 511 St. Louis is a French Quarter institution. The Johnny's Special sandwich is ridiculous. Get there a few minutes before 11 am if you want to do lunch there and you may avoid a long line.. Good luck.. Enjoy.. Be Safe.. Happy Mardi Gras!

Just tryin to help a brotha out.

And in all honesty.. any of the places mentioned above will just be balls to the wall slammed.. so you might as well forget about eating.. and just drink..

Uptown really is your best bet for dining this weekend but if you do find yourself in the Quarter and everything's crowded you can walk down Royal, across Esplanade into the Marigny and go to Sukho Thai for Thai food or La Peniche at 1940 Dauphine for very casual fare without the French Quarter crowd.

I wouldn't do Johnny's Po boys during MG. Their fried stuff just sits under a lamp when they're busy. Had a shrimp during SB weekend and it was a absolutely awful

If you don't mind driving and want to get out of the Quarter to have lunch, Liuzza's at 3636 Bienville is a family style Italian restaurant. They have eggplant dishes, awesome lasagna and spaghetti. I haven't been during Mardi Gras that I can remember but it's definitely not on the tourist list.. It's cash only.. but there's an ATM at the front door. It's also a locals joint.. and it's more fun to be with the locals than the tourists, imho.

Again, have a great time.. Happy M.G.

I'd suggest Stanley because of the location and their poached eggs, but it will be packed. Try for reservations somewhere, or settle for Arbys on Canal.
