Anyone else having to deal with Biblical ticks this year?

I can be in the woods with my dog and when we get back to the house it looks like someone dumped a 5 gallon bucket of ticks over his head.

The dogs all have simparica coursing through their system but that only works once they latch on.

So that leaves the rest to fall off in the yard or in the house and I'm losing my mind crawling the walls with real and imagined ticks.

Aside from ditching my animals what are y'all doing to combat the issue this year? Never seen anything like it before.

Im not noticing more than usual, but what I would do is a good permetrherin spray down before going in the woods.

my folks live in the NW ozarks, you barely can go outside this time of year with all the ticks and chiggers. I really don’t know how they live there

My clothes that I wear to my farm get sprayed every 3rd washing. No issues.

Wife doesn’t come in the summer so dogs don’t either. No ticks at the house.

Yep. Got back Sunday. Monday had one on my sack. First time in a long time. We stayed outside though. Fishing the Buffalo and off roading.

I am not for government intervention on just about anything but would love to see ticks have a war waged on them similar how we spray for mosquitoes.

Especially with all the data and information coming out on all the diseases and viruses they carry.

Ticks and spider all need to die in a fiery hell.

I don't think I've gotten a tick since I started spraying my clothes with permethrin. I used to get one pretty much every day during turkey season or at least find one crawling on me

Hope you don't get that red meat allergy.

When we were in Helen Ga a few weeks ago, I was super paranoid about ticks. Sprayed myself down with Off Deep Woods whenever we went hiking. And wore pants tucked into my boots.

that's my worry. I've had half a dozen latched onto me this year so far and I can wake up from the absolute deepest sleep if I feel the tickle of one on me.

Just the other night I flipped the light on after I swept one off and I swear that sucker was raised up on his hind legs on my pillow like when you come at a live crawfish.

My son is on a week long camp/walking hike with his buddies at Land between the lakes and he was telling me when he would wake up in the tent with a tick crawling he would pull it off and cut it 2 with his pocket knife and go back to sleep

That's a no dawg from me.

ETA dad got him hooked on camping back in his Cub scouts days.

I would take 100 spiders over one tick. Atleast when a spider bites you, the outcome is certain and finite.

With a tick, you might get some shite that will go away then come back in a decade and rock your world. Diabolical shite. Im way more concerned about ticks than I am snakes when in the woos.

I would head to Eureka Springs in September for a few years in a row to attend a motorcycle rally and the flies were enough to drive a person insane.

Any food or drink I had outside became a fight to keep the flies off it.

They’re worse now in most areas based on what I’ve seen. The chemo I’ve been on has resulted in me pretty much never having an issue with ticks or mosquitos (my own observation), but based on the people I’ve hunted with across the country I’d say I’ve definitely seen a significant increase in ticks over the past 10 years or so.

my dad says they use this…he says it works

Cedarcide spray

spray it on your shoes and socks/pants legs. Non toxic so you can spray the dogs too

Had Bell’s palsy in grad school around 2010. Started a few days after fooling with corn at the deer lease middle of summer. First thing the ER doc did was check me from head to toe for ticks.
