I took a walk on the new 40 acres of harwood I bought and found a tick during my shower after. I think the head popped off when I picked it off me. Sore lasted a week, and another sprung up 2 weeks later. That one spread a wide bright red circle on my beltline and swelled up a lymph node. Itch and pain...

Benadryl and ibuprofen got it under control in a couple days. Didn't have to call my doc.

The red ring is a sign of Lyme iirc. May want to have it looked at.

Catch a possum and release them there. They will put an asswhooping on ticks

Especially with all the data and information coming out on all the diseases and viruses they carry.

My 71 year old mother spent a week in the hospital last month because of Ehrlichiosis from a tick. It about killed her. The ER doc said he's seen more tick-borne illnesses this year (so far) than he has added up the rest of his career. Ticks are out of control this year.

Not trying to scare you…but I just finished a round of antibiotics for Lyme disease from a tick just like you described (had bad flu like symptoms, too). It was bad enough that I went to the Dr.

Lyme disease can cause some serious long term issues if not treated. Doxycycline was the antibiotic.

1oz Bifen 1 oz Permethrin in a 1 gallon sprayer with 3-4 drops of dawn as a surfactant. Have used that combo on patio around the house, shop, barns, deer stand, and immediate yard for over 20+ years. Rarley see a tick. Also controls spiders and other bugs all the same. Apply bout 3-4 times a year. especially after a long hard rain like we been having ill dap it up more often. No tick probs in swla.

Yep, tons up here in TN. Found one on me Sat eve while at the camp. Now it’s itching like a MFer and red/swollen. If not better some by tomorrow I’m going to run to the local Doc In The Box and have it looked at (hip). I hate those little bastards.

I have a whole wardrobe in my garage treated with permethrin.

Whenever I need to go into the yard this time of year, I put my treated pants on over my shorts, along with my treated socks and shoes (pants tucked into socks).

Kids wear treated shoes constantly.

These Ozark ticks don’t play.

On antibiotics as of noon today because of the little pricks.

We live in the middle of no where and are working outdoors all the time. Mowing, gardening and currently cutting up a very large Hackberry that fell. Whenever I go out I wear long Carhart's pants and long sleeve tees, spray my cuffs, boots and waist down with deet. And when I come in I strip in the laundry room and shower. I have not had any problem in years. However, my wife has had one attach last year and another this year. She is not as faithful with the spray! She went to the doctor and took a round of medications with no lasting issues.
We also keep the Frontline on the dog and cat. No issues there also!

I have always heard this however, I am not totally convinced that it is true!

you barely can go outside this time of year with all the ticks and chiggers. I really don’t know how they live there
I have been fortunate to avoid red bugs for a long time, probably 20 years, but given how much of a baby I have become in my 50s.....I would be miserable.
