In all seriousness, $440 is going to be the cash option on the jackpot (vice annuity), so your after tax income is probably going to be closer to $300 to $320.

But that's still 1/3 of a billion dollars. You take that money to a financial expert. You pay him half a million a year or so to manage it and draw an allowance of between $1 and $1.2 million per month and leave all of the principal to your kids.

That's great-grandchildren elevating money, right there.

No doubt, you would never have to touch the winnings to live an incredible life.

Hell, you could put it in a CD at regions back and bring home $5M interest per year.

I'd buy a pair of those Banded Black Label Waders, one of those motorized jerk string deals, and a pack of gum. That should account for most of the 400M.

I would tear down and rebuild my camp and deck. Probably make it a 4 bedroom with a large bunkroom.

Fun fact, the listing agent on that brokered one of the largest land deals in FL between the State and the mormons

I would diversify my holdings.

A place on the Devil's River nice little ranch - deer, audad, some quail and river float fishing

Floating cabin on Baffin

House on stilts in West Galveston Bay - permit has to be grandfathered

Some duck hunting land on Texas coast - Anahuac, Winney, etc

Remote Camp deep in the Atchafalaya Basin

Camp in Venice

Place in the Keys - access to Keys flats and the Glades

An island off Belize or something Caribbean for flats fishing and offshore private island

And of course all of the toys needed to thoroughly enjoy these places.

I'd buy every active OB member a nice bay boat. That's what an OB member will do as well if they win, right?

Actually, in Louisiana the net payout would be $310,310,000.00.

Bucket list fishing trips would be booked immediately including but not limited to Snook and Bonefish on a fly rod. Then I'd buy a bunch of the typical big item purchases

Nope, the OP was correct.

Lump sum tonight is estimated at $700 million.

Not correct, the top of the tickets say

quote:

$700,000,000 Annuity
$443,300,000 Cash

Then you have to pay taxes on the payout, which would bring the take home in Louisiana to ~$254,020,000 If filing jointly.

Not that this matters when playing the "hypothetical game", I was just trying to point this out.
