I have a police 870 under the bed and a suppressed SBR in 300blk in the closet. If I can get to the closet, thats what im going with.

I have 3 areas of my house that I keep my firearms in. I keep an old beater Glock 36 upstairs in case something goes down and I am upstairs, my CC pistol pretty much on me until bed, and then a youth 870 20 gauge under the bed.

With all due respect what kind of shithole do you live in that requires all this?

It's actually one of the better burbs of Houston but shite dude, you think a meth addict or someone wanting to pull a home invasion gives a frick about what neighborhood you live in.

Keep the normal random mix of weapons in the house, but our best home defense are the two psycho-billy mutts that sleep with my kids. One is an 80 # mutt that sounds like a damn dinosaur when she's pissed, and the other one is still kinda pissed at the world from a couple of recent cottonmouth bites.

Yes, that is why some areas have higher crime rates than others.

I usually wake my wife up and just unleash her.

70 pound German Shepard/ Border Collie mix that looks exactly like a black wolf. If that fails a Glock 23 in in the living room next to where usually sit, Glock 22 in my bed side table, and wife has a 38 special in her bed side table. 12 gauge in closet near center of house.

How many people break into your house? Maybe move to a nice neighborhood?

Husky/German Shepard mix..... but seriously

AR pistol and basically handgun available and ready in every room and a couple of shotguns in pinch points.

Sig P229 with a mounted light.

For a dedicated home defense gun I would prefer a shotgun to a handgun, and an AR to a shotgun.

Depends on the situation and time of day, I guess.

Easy access to some hi-cap 9's for home and auto.
After doing some testing, I'm getting very comfortable with my 12 gauge Shockwave with Challenger 2" shells.

There was a time I had some trouble with the door lock coming home after work, my son met me with a 30-30 in hand, so there's that.

I think you're missing the point. If you've already got a handful of guns around anyway, why not set some up for home defense on the off chance someone breaks in? Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

My setup is not ideal but I plan to improve it at some point. Currently I have a Walther PPQ in .40 S&W with a Streamlight flashlight/laser.

My German Shepherd. She's a huge pussy but her bark is scary. Friendliest dog ever. If that doesn't deter someone I have an AR with 40 rounds of Barnes loaded up.

Just make sure friends or relatives don’t let their come in your room if it’s not in a simplex safe.

While I do care that some burglar would steal my pistol, I’m more concerned that any kid would be able to get to it.

I live in a pretty nice area. However, it is not in a gated section. About 2 or 3 times a year we hear of a home invasion where the family is at home and the perps gain entrance while a person or the entire family is in the dwelling. That shite, however rare it may be, can and does happen and I want to do everything I can to defend myself because although I would be extremely hesitant to engage on the street, you come into my home, you will probably leave in a body bag.

I also seem to have become the owner of a rescue Pit that my son got in high school but he is now in college. I can't stand the breed but this dog has grown on me and seems to be a good people deterrent as I am not sure I have had my water meter read since I got him.

Where I live is out in the county. Very nice neighborhood.

The problem is that it takes the Sheriff's department around 30 min to get there.

I actually have several ARs ready.
300blk with light
5.56
several pistols as well.

That's my logic too. I didn't buy any of my firearms specifically for home defense. Mostly they're for fun. But how bad would it suck to be broken into in the middle of the night with a bunch of guns in the house and none of them nearby and ready to go?

That's probably where I'm headed eventually. Suppressed.
