The ability to let many deer pass, even some 8's and 6's on public.
Uneffected by pressure - could end the season with 6 tags, long as i have enough sausage and ground to last all summer.
Peer pressure absolute no effect on me.
Ability to get in a big buck's head and read other hunters like he does. Predict how avg joe will detour him, and displace his does.
Only hunt 1 meat deer then taxidermy bucks. No other game except turkey in spring. No fishing. Like to eat fish though.
Very good at reading deer sign & patterning .

Upgrade you went way too deep into yourself for the OB here...
Have a beer!
Pros: absolutely love to go saltwater fishing or deer or duck hunting.
Cons: never have time to go saltwater fishing or deer or duck hunting.
Con B: never get the invites I used to always get either...

I have 3 kids that hunt and kill deer. I don’t foresee a need to punch all of my tags for a long time. I have no problem tagging deer.

I’m a great shot with any gun including at moving targets.
I’m not good at guessing the size of a buck
I’m generally not great at scouting deer for me it’s food plot and hope I get lucky. It’s not that I’m not good at it per se, I’m just too lazy to do it
I can clean a deer for meat but I can’t cape one for a mount. I’ll pay someone to do that
Im great at scouting ducks and navigating a boat through a bayou or brake at night
I can tolerate extreme cold well
I always bring the bourbon and cigarettes to the blind to share. Nothing like a shot of bourbon and a smoke on a cold arse morning in the blind to start the day
I’m ok at duck calls but not great. Duck hunting is probably my strongest form of hunting because I love it.
I’m not great at picking out a mallard hen or drake before I shoot because my eyesight isn’t great
Fishing I’m great with anything boat related I’m a pro at launching and trailering a boat.
I’m good at casting into tight spots
My knots on tying a lure could use improvement
I’m decent at choosing the proper lure and having the patience to get to know the lake and what spots are good in certain weather or time of year
I’m great at drinking lots of beer while fishing
Most of my hunting and fishing activities id say I’m average at. I just don’t get hardcore into the little details like some people. I do it as a way to escape the stress of life and socialize/drink beer. I don’t give a frick if I kill or catch anything it’s just icing on the cake if it do. I just enjoy being out there

Out of shape. I doubt I could drag a deer 50 yards.
This is what a side by side with a dump bed and a boat trailer winch and straps are for

Con: Call too much.
Something people do way too much. They like to show off how great they can hail call but in reality they flare the ducks more often than it works.
Good decoy movement combined with some quacks and feed calls is all you need

I’d probably be considered an above average outdoorsman.
My weakness 100% though is overthinking. Sometimes I’ll get obsessive about a stand I should hunt on that particular day or sometimes fishing change my presentation too frequently instead of just letting “it” happen.
Barometric pressure is the first thing I check before fishing or hunting. In regards to hunting I’ve kept a log several years and anytime the barometer is 29.98 or above, I have great hunts. See more deer, better deer. I think most whitetail hunters are aware of this though.

I get nervous right before shooting a deer
This is not a con. I’ve killed some very good deer over the years and I still get that excitement nervousness as I’m getting ready to drawback or position my self for a shot. There’s no better feeling IMO than mid morning when you’ve decided to climb down in 15 minutes you look a certain direction and a good deer is standing there and you don’t know where he came from or how long he was there and being able to take that deer.

As a hunter, weaknesses are patience and just not spending enough time scouting (for deer especially). I get on animals, but not nearly as much as I feel I could if I scouted more.
Strengths: good at calling and scouting ducks. Good shot for most things.
Fishing strengths: pretty good at finding fish, backing a trailer, navigating waterways.
Fishing weaknesses: pretty good at catching crap that isn't fish, average at bait selection, crappy at using a bait cast.
I like camping, and pretty good at reading weather. Because of my job, I'm good with plants. Decent at tracking and reading sign.

Man I have learned from some of the best
( professional guides, taxidermist, gunsmiths, chefs, biologists and just all around woodsman) started shooting shite when I was 6-7 and 45 now.
I still find things that I learn from different people all the time and regularly look at something that I think “man if only I knew this then” or “dam I been doing that wrong this whole time”
Don’t be afraid to ask questions most people appreciate sharing their knowledge just make sure they sharing good info.

I read most of y’all’s posts before commenting.
My pro’s are most of y’all’s pros and cons. I’m pretty good at most stuff outdoors, BUT it’s all I do besides work. Killed 5 deer last year with all 3 methods of take. Gun, primitive and bow. On public land. I’m quick and efficient at cleaning all game, deer, birds, squirrels, fish, etc. I’m good with finding sign and animals. I’ve hunted out of a summit open front climber for the past 11 seasons so I’m good in a climber. Branched out to a saddle last year and got that figured out. I’ve dragged deer up the hills in Missouri so I’m in pretty decent deer dragging shape. Great wingshot. Shot a 92/100 at the company skeet shoot couple years back before covid. Backing in boats? No problem. Driving boats? Excellent. Need someone to call the ducks? I got that. Deers 500 yards out? My 28 nosler and me got that. Not bad at bass fishing. Caught a limit this afternoon in the spillway after about 2 months of not fishing.
Cons:
HOW THE F DO YOU CATCH A SAC A LAIT?????
Also, I lack patience for people that are newer. Like if they walk loudly through the woods to and from the stand and think that you only have to be quiet while you’re on the stand. I won’t invite that person back. I also get frustrated with people that constantly get snagged and I keep having to troll to the bank to get them out of a tree.

i ain’t as good as i once was, but i’m as good once as i ever was. 70 yrs old will do that to you!
i really have a knack for stand placement in regard to wind direction. so much so that members of the club frequently want my opinion on their stands.
i love bottom bouncing bass fishing, especially a jig n pig.
i’ve never hunted any kind of bird in my life.
at my age it’s more about just being in the great outdoors.

Pros…I can read a marsh like a mofo.
Cons…completely lost on the woods.
Fishing…I tend to gravitate toward what worked in the past instead of being in the present.

The preacher man says it's the end of time
And the Mississippi River, she's a-goin' dry
The interest is up and the stock market's down
And you only get mugged if you go downtown
I live back in the woods you see
My woman and the kids and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun, a rifle and a four-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

Pros: I can drive the shite out of a boat. Can back a trailer up at mach 1. Dog whisperer, squirrel assassin, immune to recoil.
Cons: can't figure out fish, trust the weatherman too much, too fat, too hung over, sleep in the stand too much, like boat riding too much, can't stand live bait, lazy, like camping as much as hunting, play on my phone in the stand too much, post on tigerdroppings too much
