Wet and cold weather in Dallas this weekend made me realize I have a gap in coverage. I have slip on sneakers for summer and boots for doing work in the dirt and mud, but just for quick trips outside with the dog in sweats I don't have a shoe.

Anyone have a brand or type of shoe they throw on when they need to run outside on a cold wet day?

Seconded. I get a lot of use out of mine even away from the boat. I like them much better than XtraTuf or other similar boots.

Funmny you mention these, I was looking at these for use around the deer camp due to the more rugged looking soles. I sometimes get tired of the tall boots for quick walks when it's not super cold yet. Wonder how they compare.

Grundens are made for standing all day. If i know I'm going to be standing for long periods of times I wear them.

Altra makes a waterproof trail running/hiking shoe. Believe they are Hightop.

I believe Under armour also makes one.

Grundens are great for being warm and dry. There are other similar brands that are good deck boots.

I have deck boots and slip on shoe things from Grundens, Huk and Xtra Tuff. Deck boots are great but I don't like them as an outdoor shoe.

I'd rather have Muck or LaCrosse or something like that. Deck boots don't have traction in crappy outdoor stuff but great for on boats and fishing.

LL Bean Mountain Slippers

No, they're not waterproof. But for what you described they are perfect. Mine have seen plenty of snow and rain. I got them last year as a camp shoe for an elk hunt that turned out to be real cold and snowy and they pretty much never came off my feet all winter after that.

I agree that Grundens are hard to beat, very comfortable. I have the high top like above and also a low cut pair for when I'm not getting into water or mud. Looks like they are on sale currently so I'm buying another pair.

I bought these mid-height boots from Bass Pro a few weeks ago using bonus points. So far I really like them. I usually wear size 8.5-9 in shoes/boots. These are 9's and fit pretty well. I'm expecting wear them anytime I don't need a high boot or insulation. In my "advanced years," I'm finding I like pull on boots much better than lace on boots.
