thats juxtaposition I was trying to make. You have these storied river clubs that immediately invoke grandeur and class when mentioned then some goofball with more money than sense comes up with "swamp donkey".
swamp donkey would be a good name for an 800 acre redneck club in alabama.

heard of swamp donkey but not hookin bulls. Grew up hunting the loess ravines of sw miss but never got off the bluff and down onto the river plain.

My place just about borders southside’s bottomland to the North. From what I can tell, they get a handful of really good mallard hunts each season which is about as much as you can ask for in Mississippi in 2025. I have no idea how good their deer hunting is but there are a ton of deer in the general area and I’d imagine they have all the right habitat perfectly curated over there for raising and keeping big deer.

Yep- New Tara owners looking for ten people to buy in at 2million per share.

But is it dry enough to deer hunt most years or boat access and completely flooded every other year.

Southside has both bottom land and hills. Year round drive in access to camps no matter the river stage. Some property starts getting water at +\~ 26 ft on Vicksburg scale.
All bottom land deer hunting is flooded at +\~ 45 ft Vicksburg. Happens but not often. You can research how often that happens during deer season. It happens more often in the Spring obviously. The great advantage is having hill property for the deer to refuge on during the Spring flood season. There are several places up and down the river that control both bottomland and hills but it’s not the norm. Most of the “famous” river clubs are susceptible to flood waters.

And it’s under a conservation easement I believe.

I got a call 2 weeks ago saying either 13 or 17 are filled. My friend that called is more than likely going to buy one. He hunted Tara for several years much like myself. They are going to rifle hunt it for the most part with some bowhunting areas from what I gathered. Will be 20 members total. 10 guys purchased for 40 million. I understand they bought some land on eagle lake for camps to be built. They are still doing corporate events and camps and would like to get into events such as weddings and crap.

In all the years I/we hunted there, there was only one nephew that came to hunt. He stayed in one of the houses on property. He was pretty cool. We would sit and drink by the fire if it was cool enough outside.

Man, $2M is at the price point where you can go get a very nice spread to yourself out in the Midwest.

Up north the old fellas were always after "Ole Blue", some wise tell about them bringing deer down from Wisconsin (way back) and they had a grey/blue tint.
I must have heard that 1,000 times as a kid

Pretty sure most of the good ole boys are gone from SS and it's now a coonass club. So beware
