I think the finish is breaking down. Anyone have this issue? I think I will send it back to Browning after hunting season.

I know a few people that had the same problem with browning shotguns. I’m pretty sure browning fixed the problem.

Same problem with mine. I called a few years ago and they said to mail it in and they would replace it. It was hunting season so I put camouflage duck tape on it. Three years later it still has the tape. I don’t feel like having to take the scope off. I may call again and see if they will ship me the stock to do it myself.

There’s a recall link somewhere on the website. I mailed my rifle in and they replaced the stock and sent it back.

I was at a local gun store a few weeks ago and they were packing up a browning shotgun to send back for the same issue.

You need to remove the scope to mail them the stock?

yeah had the issue on my Maxus and sent it back. Like new.

My X bolt doing the same. I don't use it enough to bother me, but I'll probably send it back at some point.

Browning has good customer service regarding this issue.

I didn’t think of that. They just said to mail the rifle. I’ll have to call again after hunting season.

I had a a similar problem with a Sako and they wouldn’t do shite. Ended up buying a new stock and fixed the problem.

My wife’s browning did the same. It is currently getting replaced now, been about 3 weeks so far. Get online and fill out the form they will email you a shipping label.

Yes, remove scope and rings and bolt.

So Browning still won't just send you a stock? I mean I appreciate the fact the are honoring their mistake, but geez what a hassle to have to take my scope off and send my rifle back to fix their mistake.

Why not just pull the receiver/barrel/scope and send them the defective stock? Shouldn't need to send the complete gun. It would also be less expensive to ship the stock only instead of the complete gun.

Same happened with my Sako, ended up getting the coating off with rubbing alcohol and a scotch brite and then repainting it with a rattle can.

Has the same issue with my Maxus. Pretty straightforward process to ship the gun and get it back.

I've heard from some the mosquito spray was causing issues.

These were duck hunters that used mosquito spray and yard guard on the blind when they got in.

I think that's the issue. Browning won't just accept the stock. They want the barrel and action to fit it to their standards. At least that's what I remember last time I looked into it.

Kemo Jr’s A400 is missing paint where he touched it with cutter on his hand.

My brother has a remington sps with the same problem. I think all the manufacturers used that rubber shite that melts.

I got my return authorization today and I am shipping it back, rifle and mag only. The rifle is about 3 years old and has never been close to bug spray. Mine is very tacky. Not a subtle thing. They said it was a tactical grip coating, Duratouch, on the composite stock. They also said the time frame for returning a firearm with this issue has no end date.
