I just wish this prick could have killed himself quietly rather than harming innocents.

but that's way too close to home for me.

I live in Cenla and that's way to damned close to home for me brother. This shite has got to stop, by whatever means it takes to make it happen.
I have been contemplating getting my wife a CCL and this just sealed the deal.
Praying for all the families. So sad.

Have been to exactly one movie since the Colorado shootings without a gun and not only was it simply me not planning my day but I was keyed up like a dog trying to pass a persimmon seed. Frickin movie theaters are a trap.

With everyone saying they carry in a theater, what are the odds that someone was carrying in there last night and didn't do anything?

even if someone had a gun, we don't know how quickly it all went down, we don't know how chaotic it was, we don't really know much

with that many people running around, the last thing I would want is someone else to start firing shots

I was just thinking of taking my three year old daughter to see her first movie just the other day and now I'm having second thoughts. What the hell is this world coming too??!! We can't even go out without worrying about getting shot at the movies. It's coming soon. What is right is wrong what's wrong is right!!! Prayers to all the family's involved in this stupid situation.

You kill a lot of innocent bystanders because of the panic in a full theater.

Not necessarily. Are you saying instead you sit there and become target practice?

Nobody is advocating wildly unloading the magazine on the shooter.

My return fire carries less risk to innocent bystanders than the shots coming from the shooter who is trying to kill people.

If faced with sitting there or giving myself a chance to survive I'm going with trying to survive.

What I am saying is... In a gun free zone owl I be better taking my chances of running and living or taking out the shooter and having to spend my life in jail

There is always the choice not to shoot back.

You think out of the 100 people in that theatre last night that no one else had a gun on them? I doubt it.

if the news reports are correct, the killer was in the rear of the theater and killed those directly in front of him. I am not sure that having or not having a gun would make a difference in the fatalities.

I am not sure what came out was correct or not, but if I am in row 1 and someone starts shooting in row 100...I am probably better off getting my kids and me out versus engaging the shooter in a dark theater

I just thank God that Bobby Jindal jumped in front of the news cameras to save us.

That should be her choice. Only those comfortable carrying should make that decision. It would be far less beneficial to have someone carry that has no desire to do so or someone who doesn't want to put in the time and effort into practicing with the firearm. I am all for people carrying but in the same way you shouldn't choose her guns for her, you shouldn't make this decision.

I relish hearing this counter argument.

People will say, "adding another gun in there will just make things worse."

My response, "How exactly could the situation possibly get any worse?"

You have a guy shooting at innocent people uncontested. He is entirely in control. Their lives literally hang in the balance of him deciding whether they live or die.

But, if one person puts return fire on this guy, his game plan HAS to change. He has no choice - he is now taking rounds. Generally when these psychotic mass killers face the slightest sign of resistance they cower away and take their own lives. I would like to think this coward was no exception, but I'll unfortunately never know.

And I completely agree with ChatRabbit. If you believe your wife should carry, sit and talk to her about why you think it would be a good idea. Then ultimately let her decide if she's willing to accept the responsibility. It's a serious one.
