Serious question as I don't have CHL. Is it legal to carry in movies? Can movies post signage that bans CHL carry?

I don't know about others, but the Grand is a "carry free zone."

Prayers for all involved.

Crazy deal, not a whole lot of details yet. 3 confirmed dead(shooter is one) and 7 injured ranging from non-life threatening to critical/life threatening. Shooter is a 58 year old white male, no names yet. They're saying he committed suicide.

It's the preference of a private business. They can make you leave their premises if discovered. So, all that does is prevent the victims from defending themselves.

So what happens to me if I am carrying in a "carry free zone" , and someone walks in and starts shooting and I shoot back?

I agree.

I'm more aligned with the "carry here and you get 10% and a free t-shirt" idea.

Either way, wasn't trying to take away from what happened. I don't know about yall, but that's way too close to home for me.

Can anyone confirm what the laws in Louisiana are about gun free zones? I usually carry in all of them except for government buildings. Aren't they just able to ask you to leave vs. other states where it is illegal to carry where signs are posted?

Either you get dead or they get dead. Which one would you rather?

That's why gun free zones are fricking retarded

prob same as here in mississippi. All they can ask you to do is leave if they see your weapon, and if you dont then your trespassing. But the fact is, if you are concealed... they will never know. And i would rather be carrying in a gun free zone and never need it and risk getting asked to leave, than leaving my gun in the vehicle and need it

Even if you don't feel comfortable carrying a firearm consider carrying a tactical flashlight instead. In a setting like the movie theater 1000+ lumens right to the face can do an amazing job of temporarily blinding and disorienting someone, maybe just long enough to save more lives.

Such a sad, sad, story.

Movies are so loud, I would think the odds of hearing the gunshots, registering what it was and being able to do something about it, unless you are next to the shooter are slim...
