I’ve seen 50-11 stories on what happened. Fact is only 4 folks know what actually happened. 2 of those are dead. One is missing and the other is telling the story he wants told. We may never know what exactly happened. Regardless its tragic

Come on, do what you did
Roll me under New Madrid
Shake my baby and please bring her back
'Cause death won't even be still
Caroms over the landfill
Buries us all in its broken back

I work at a nursing home and deal with folks with dementia every day. People can do things that are really out of character for them on any random day if they have dementia, especially say if they have a UTI. That can severely alter ones mental status. I don’t know anyone involved, but it’s no stretch to think that one of my patient’s would kill a random person if they just happened to be in the wrong frame of mind while having access to a firearm. I’ve had patients tell me as much. Some would probably act on it. Most is probably just talk. Dementia is a helluva thing that makes people say and act WAY out of character. .

Certainly. But from the newest story, he drove his boat over there, talked to the guys, and they let him in the blind to hunt with them and put their back to him? That doesn’t add up. It doesn’t make sense he acted normal until he pulled the trigger.

Why wouldn’t the 3rd guy have shot him for instance?

I understand dementia causes people to do crazy things, it just seems like it’s very unlikely he was normal right up until he wasn’t and that was when he got in the blind with his gun. The chances of that are just so slim imo. If a guy with dementia is talking to me I’m likely watching my back especially if he has a gun.

Furthermore, where’s his family at? I haven’t seen anyone on his side talk about dementia yet? That should have been an early release from his side if that was the case right?

I agree with you. Who knows if all the crap we’ve read about previous animosity is true? But I do know if he had just cut down two of my friends, he wouldn’t have left that blind alive if I had any choice in the matter.

And the fact that his family isn’t coming out and defending him says a ton. I wasn’t specifically directing my response at you, I was just trying to explain that people with dementia sometimes do things that are so far outside of the realm of reason, it just leaves one scratching their head.

Absolutely. On my way down to pick up NC coolers at BVDD's house, I spent the night at my Dads. Walked into to his shed to grab a tool and was overwhelmed by gas fumes. I found three open top 2 gallon buckets half full of gasoline. He had no idea where they came from, but stepmom told me he drove to town the prior day to get gas for the mower. Remarkable he didn't spill any in his car. All down hill from there.

I have been purposely peppered on Reelfoot by duck hunters while crappie fishing.

I keep a 243 in my boat for any interesting moments. I’m betting I could have won that 150 yard shootout.

If you are at the point where you feel it is necessary to carry a rifle crappie fishing.... something is seriously fricked up on that lake. They got big problems out there it sounds like.

Just from the talk here, seems like it's safer to drive through the projects in Chicago.

You can easily drown (or get hypothermia) in waist deep water.

Reelfoot is a crazy place.
Those baws get way too worked up and there’s way too much competition.

Sir, please be careful of your vocabulary. Reel foot is apparently a mentally ill place.

Eta: there’s clearly more to this story. If my dad had dementia and shot 2 people then went missing I’m absolutely releasing that to the public so he doesn’t look like a cold blooded ahole. Yet nothing from the family still...
