You will get a ton of different answers and all will be good. You can't go wrong with a the Benchmade Bugout mini, Spyderco Paramilitary 2, Onatario Rat 2, and many others. The one I've been carrying the most lately is a Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight. To me, it is the perfect combination of weight and size.

quote:Good choice. My EDC is a little Spyderco Ladybug. Amazon has them in purple for right at $50. Probably have to be a bona fide LSU, TCU, Washington, Northwestern, or some purple wearing high school, fan to justify carrying a purple knife.
Benchmade Bugout mini.

I like knives and I understand spending decent money on them but my favorite knife is the Kershaw Ken Onion leek. I prefer a standard blade, but they have half serrated also.

I love the kershaws for their easy assist opening. Can pull it out, open it effortlessly and close it alll single handed. That’s everything for me in an EDC knife. Price is goid and quality is reasonable. I can lose em or damage them and not give it a second though because they’re pretty cheap. Leek is my preferred design d/t size and blade shape.

I second the Kershaw leek.

Kershaw Leek. Blade is great. I run it over a steel @ once a week or after heavy use and it sharpens back up in just a few passes.

I have a Spyderco Polstar. Its made with CTS BD1 steel. I've carried it every day since February and haven't had to sharpen it yet. It was $100 when I bought it, but the price is down to $80 right now on Amazon. Only thing I would suggest is replacing the clip with a deep carry clip, which I did, and its great!
I also have an Ontario Rat II in army green with a black blade, and I've beat the shite out of that knife and it holds up very well for its price point.

They have a newer model on Amazon right now called the Link. Made in the US, aluminum scales, 20cv steel, 3.25 inch blade for $85. That's a helluva deal. I just bought a PM2 in S90V and need the Kershaw like I need a hole in the head, but it's tempting just because.

Native is a nice knife. Most Spydercos are. I'm a big fan of them. Got a Native Chief as my EDC lately. Love it. Not as big in your pocket as you think. Very pointy and sharp.
Edit
Kershaw Leeks are sweet. You won't regret that.
