That’s a very good question…I’d love to see how it plays out. It sucks for ole boy that lost it.

Is this considered stolen or just found? Weird situation.

conversion
n. a civil wrong (tort) in which one converts another's property to his/her own use, which is a fancy way of saying "steals." Conversion includes treating another's goods as one's own, holding onto such property which accidentally comes into the convertor's (taker's) hands, or purposely giving the impression the assets belong to him/her. This gives the true owner the right to sue for his/her own property

according to law, anything found that has something to identify the owner is lost property and you cant keep it or you stole it. same rules apply to losing your wallet.

now if there is nothing with your name on it and no registration or identifying marks then its found and finders keepers its yours

That's what I figured. I would have found the owner asap but you know how shitty people are.

FWIW, I always tie on a safety teather to each kayak I tie down. Its independant to straps and uses separate mounting location both truck/trailer and kayak. Overkill Im sure, but I havent lost one yet. Ive been with others that will only use a single Harbor Freight ratchet strap on their PA14.

Where are pics of Amber?

Here’s an update.

Don’t use harbor freight straps on a $2000 kayak.

Here is the latest update from the guy who lost the kayak.

quote:

Well I have tried to contact the owner of vehicle with no avail. I have going to the registered owners address and left messages nothing. The owner of property owns a local business so I left business address an email. Still nothing. I will give them a few days to respond before I blast the information. They seem to be good people and do not want to harm anyone. I just want my yak back. It does ya e a serial number and if I pressed it could be a criminal offense but I’ll wait and see.

Pretty chickenshit if he gets the cops involved when he’s the one that dropped a 14 foot fricking boat in a roadway. He should be thanking his lucky stars that multiple insurance companies aren’t playing rock paper scissors to see who gets his 401k, or worse.
