Holy shite! I just looked up those jackets and they are expensive! frick that

This thread is the first time i've ever looked up sitka gear and HOL E SHITE. They want $190 for a lightweight hoodie?

Is it made out of dinosaur fur?

Got the Sitka stratus pants and jacket and pair it with first light merino base layers. I have been very happy with the quality and performance. The windstopper worked wonders on my Iowa trip recently where the winds can whip you along with the cold.

Don’t regret the purchase or price one bit. Awesome stuff.

I have a Sitka Fanatic jacket and bids and everytime i put them on, i know it was the best clothing decision i ever made when it comes to comfort on the stand especially bowhunting. I wear an under armor cold gear base layer and a wool sweater to the stand and don't get all sweaty. Then once i'm settled in and cool off a bit, put on that jacket and i can sit in 25 to 30 degrees temps all day.

I know firstlite is just as good. I don't own any but i have heard too many good things from hard core mid west hunters to know it's good stuff.

I had no idea that so many people on this board hunted in Canada.

That Cabela's Wooltimate stuff looks pretty good. I may try that when I have to buy some new gear.

The nice thing is that it’s versatile. Ive worn it with less layers in the 40s in Louisiana down to the 20s without much bulk.

I've had the wooltimate pants for 5 years and the jacket for 3. It's rare I get to wear the pants down here because even in 30 degree weather it is hot getting to the stand in them.

have last years Academy 2:1 parka and gloves. I rode all winter last year. Think 30 is cold? Try it at 80 mph Quality is very good. My last academy hunting coat lasted 16 years.

I have the Game Winner bibs and 2/1 Jacket and its pretty damn warm. Zippers on the legs of the bibs have gone out but they've lasted me a long time

Son gets a discount on Sitka. Incredible warmth without the bulk.

I don't mind paying more for quality gear, I just don't like Sitka's camo patterns.

For duck hunting you cant beat the funtionality and performance of berettas gear.

For deer hunting in La the best thing I ever bought was a windproof set of fleece coat and pants from BPS.

If 60 degrees I wear a t and blue jeans, put coat on in stand.

The gear is quiet, all the pockets and zippers are in the right places, and the pants have a button and zipper but have a waist that is elastic and big zippers on the bottom. Can put them on over boots and jeans with no problems.

Burrs dont stick to em too bad.

This sounds like the redhead set that I have from BPS. It's been great for the cost, especially the pants. The jacket isn't too big, but I prefer layers instead of a big coat for drawing my bow.

Probably so, I think I spent like 140 bucks for both. It just has a drab green pattern. It still looks brand new and I have worn the crap out of it. Whoever made it for them did a damn good job.

The clothing lines from Browning have never let me down. Have gotten 20 years of service from my hydro fleece

one thing i've learned from 20 years of hunting is that you don't cut corners with winter hunting clothes. Spend the money up front and you won't have to spend as much on layers and new jackets down the road.

Completely disagree. I have a cheap bib from bass pro with a matching jacket, and they've both held up for several years. I could replace them both now and would still have saved over paying for sitka or the like. I hunt almost exclusively out of open stands so if I don't have on the right clothes I pay for it all morning.

The trick to not freezing your arse off is in your boots, hands, cap, and a good fleece neck gaiter. Keep your extremities warm and your body will be fine with most jackets/pants on the market.

Agree Sitka is the best. If you can't swing it look at Kryptek. It's really high quality also and not as expensive. Much much better than what you'd buy at academy. I did see that Academy is carrying some of Kryptek's lower end stuff. Look at the website. It's really nice stuff.

Sitka delta wading jacket and layer whatever you want underneath. I rather have a waterproof jacket I can wear year round on every hunt.

You can layer and be ok with cheaper academy gear. I just love that I can wear just a shirt and sitka jacket and be warm down to 20's. It's warmer than my old drake jacket and about 5 times less bulky

My lucky jacket. I’m sure there’s warmer technology, but I can’t get away from it.
