I told a neighbor once how I felt about their pit bull. Went fine in the conversation but that was the end of our kids hanging out. It’s like telling a Biden voter you voted for Trump. They 100% believe it’s how you raise the dogs and that their dog has been raised right.

It is a sad day when you cannot go for a walk without this kind of bullshite. I carry my gun anytime I take my grandbaby in the stroller. I refuse to be caught in that situation without a proper way to defend her and myself. This stuff has to end.

2 dogs tying up until their owners separate them?

People should control their dogs, but some of these responses are surprising for an outdoor forum.

I'd definitely sleep on it. Get your emotions in check, I'd probably need more than a day.

I'd go severe, scorched earth. Whatever needed to be done, in order to know, I did everything in my power to stop a future attack, because I'd bet one is coming.

I couldn't live with myself if that dog mauled someone else in the future, if I erred on the side of neighborly than on the side of caution.

Which dog? Two different dogs tried to fight his, one was pulled off before it could. None of the dogs mentioned went after a person.

My grandson was badly mauled by a “good” dog. I totally don’t have any tolerance for the owners who defend a dog with the bloodline of breeds that are violent, they cannot know when their good dog will kill. The downside risk is too great. Better safe than sorry, this is life-changing stuff! Especially when the dog has a history of an attack!

That’s just me, but I’ve lived through the mess that follows a mauling, it’s awful.

I hear 100% where you are coming from. Many years ago, some good friends of our at the time had their toddler bitten in the face by a dog they were watching. The dog had no history, it just "snapped". The kid endured many surgries and has scars for life.

Here is the video for those that are interested. After watching it does it change your thoughts?

Lonnie, that dog looked like a bullet out of a gun going straight at yours. Like several others said, I would definitely escalate this with the authorities AND talk to that owner, but I would have a hard time with that dog in my neighborhood. I’m a dog lover, but I would have had 0 problem exterminating that dog right then and there.

Your friends had a toddler and watched someone else’s dog for them? That’s not a move I would make.

My neighbor has a dog that wants to fight everything on four legs. His old dog died and when he got this one it was already 4-5 years old and had already developed bad tendencies. Once he figure that out he just makes sure the dog is on a leash when it’s in the front yard. It’s really not a big deal. Again, because a lot of people apparently don’t understand this, dog aggression and human aggression aren’t related.

There is a recipe for sweet meatballs. Xylitol sweetener. Pit bulls love it.

I don't understand the appeal of having a pet that could harm someone. I just don't see the how or why. If it were me, I would have probably never owned that dog in the first place but if I somehow did, the dog would be put down first thing in the morning. Obviously, that isn't a choice that you can make for the guy, I'm just stating what I'd do if I were HIM.

As for you, I think the advice you've been given above is pretty good. Definitely sleep on it, anger conversations never go the way I intend for them to go. Emotions are high for both of you. The guy is definitely not a horrible human because he ran full speed and tackled the dog. A POS human wouldn't have done that. He may be able to be reasoned with.

But that is a conversation that needs to be had. Whether tomorrow, or mid week, but you need to fully decide where you stand and let him know. Nothing is more important than the safety of your wife and your child. He probably feels the same about his so hopefully that translates to him understanding your decision.

If not, sometimes a man just has to make enemies.

There no question I would do whatever I needed to do to ensure that would not happen again, and it will if the dog stays. My guess is the owner knows what he has to do, but more than likely will not do it. There may be a place for aggressive dogs, but it dang sure isn’t in a residential neighborhood where women and children are out and about. His property was trying to kill your property plan and simple. Life is to short to have to worry about stuff like this. With that being said I would talk to the guy and let him know you will not tolerate an aggressive dog and what has to happen or I will go to the authorities.

If these neighbors continue to keep these dogs then they are no friends of yours and will never be. Call police to your home, show the video and have restraining orders filed if possible. Go totally out of your way to eliminate the threats before the inevitable happens.
Years ago had new neighbors move in to the house across the street from us. My wife is very small and ran in the subdivision almost daily, and at times take our baby in a stroller. Their dog which was a nasty looking mutt got after her one day and fortunately didn’t attack. Wife was badly shaken. I went over and told them what would happen if this didn’t get cleared up. They got rid of the dog.

If your neighbor is a good person they are thinking this over and will tell you what they are going to do about it. You might be surprised. They could get rid of the dog. If whatever they do is inadequate for you and your family then all bets are off and force the issue. You can’t havre the wife fearful of a dog that could come charging at any time. That’s not right.

The dog owner is either an extremely brave individual or damned foolish to tackle his dog that way. I realize what adrenalin can do but he is lucky that the animal didn't turn it's rage on him and tear him to pieces. I hope he thinks about how dangerous owning a dog like that can be.

have a great pyrenes. Apparently he slipped his fence and got after her and the dog. She was able to keep herself between the two of them as they circled each other.

Nearly all great Pyrenees become dog aggressive. They are Lvestock Guardian Dogs that people see four legs and a tail and assume it's a pet.

You true working breeds were never meant to be pets.

Having said that, there is no woman on the planet that can stop a Pyre when his bloods up. Simply circling certainly wouldn't do it. I've hit one with a magnalite pot which I thought would kill him and it didn't so much as register.

The other attack looks more like a dog with a strong prey drive and another dog that acted like prey.

Stupid to have a dog with that kind of drive in a neighborhood and your neighbor should have his man card revoked for doing so. I've had labs and shepherds that would literally attack anything smaller than them that wasn't human or a goose. They are usually good with people. Good with kids. But kill pests animals for the fun of it.

I don't blame the dog so much as the owner. Dogs like that take a very firm hand.

Glad the wife is okay. And the pup.

But I'd give your neighbor the chance to either relocate the dog or confine him to inside only.
