I've been seeing a lot lately around our area near Youngsville. Awesome birds to watch.

They're all over Winter Quarters. Showed up abt 3 weeks ago

I have a pair whose main tree is in my backyard in BR. It’s a perfect vantage point for them to survey prey. I like to practice casting my rods and reels in the backyard, and the kites have made that difficult, thinking my baits are food items.

I've been watching 6 of them hunt every day for a few weeks from my office window in Baton Rouge.

This one landed on the powerline in front of my house on Saturday. Been seeing them and the swallow tails a good bit around here this spring/summer. (Pensacola)

I watched a ton of them floating around on my back in the pool this weekend. South Lafayette area.

My favorite bird ! They are so acrobatic that it is insane. Supposedly they are the only bird that can catch a dragon fly

Also seeing noticeably fewer than normal in and around SW MS.

Later in the summer when I start bush hogging they will keep me company and attack any rat I kick up. They are really a joy to watch and are fast as greased lightening

I see multiple every day. They like the area of town where my office is.

Is that what this is? Saw it gliding over my house in South MS last wk. First time I’ve ever seen one in the nearly 20yrs we’ve been in the house.

Solid name for a band.
Really though, I got plenty around my house in STG.
They and the Red Shoulder Hawks keep the squirrel and stray kitten population down.

See a pair almost daily in my neighborhood. Keep the tweety birds fricked off in my blackberry bushes

I’ve seen a pair around the Pumpkin Center area for the last couple of years. Also the Swallow-tailed Kite as well. Very cool looking birds!

Saw one last week freaking out and diving at a great horned owl in my backyard last week while eating dinner. I would have never seen that owl if the kite was making a ruckus. Pretty neat for the whole family to see.

They are all over my neighborhood in MidCity BR.
Last weekend I had a kite and a mockingbird watching me mow my mom’s yard, and both grabbed several katydids disturbed by my mowing.
